I see why they didn't post it here:

If they posted that in the lounge It'd have to be "would provide you a small countries national budget for food or drinks, etc." once DD and Nagy spotted the meet...

Just seen a post in GIT (I won't cross post but you know where to find it) and one of the members has received an e-mail from Sean which says the following. My question is has anybody been approached for the British one yet? Or do you think they are baulking at the thought of the bar tab?

We're looking to do something to celebrate 10 million members and were wondering if you would be willing to help.

Our idea is to have a series of local meetups around the world for CodeProject members. Each meetup would need a figurehead to help choose the location and help coordinate things, and we're wondering if you would like to be that figurehead (since you're one for the community anyway). Also, when we saw your post about the GIT meetup, we knew exactly who to ask first J

We'd be aiming for around the end of June and would provide you a small budget for food or drinks, etc. Our plan is to keep track of people who want to join here:

      http://www.codeproject.com/Forums/217394/Get-Togethers.aspx

Your task would mostly be some coordination and picking a local restaurant (or whatever else might work best) to be the spot.

Interested? We know you're a busy guy, but we'd love you to be a part of this.

I suppose this has something to do with the idea I suggested to Carrie[^] a while ago - You know, a way to celebrate CP achieving 10 million members. I wonder if they'll provide any more information in the next time.

I am not sure if there is irony in your post, but I am also not sure if Leslie suggested that before. Mainly because I knew that there were smaller meetups between individuals of the community, but nothing like big and officially supported by CP.

There's loads of space at Luton's Home Ground on a Matchday and it's quiet, perhaps we could hold it there?

OK here's the skinny. Like my intercepted email above indicates, we're choosing a handful of meetup leaders from around the world. We'll be asking them to post their city and country here: http://www.codeproject.com/Forums/217394/Get-Togethers.aspx[^] where they can rally people nearby them, and help coordinate a meetup location. This is just to get the ball rolling though. We'd love for anyone to go to the Get Togethers forum, post their city and country, and start a local meetup on their own. Finding a central place for a small (or large) group of people will be the tricky bit, so the sooner you start the better :) And yes PB, we do have a UK leader we've asked, but that doesn't mean you can't help out, or even start your own if it turns out they live too far away! We'd love to see as many meetups as possible, even if some have to be e-meetups. The intended meetup date is Thursday June 27th 2013. More details to come! Stay tuned.

                        Thanks, Sean Ewington CodeProject
