Matt Smith is gone at the end of the year[^]. Who'd be good next (love the Bill Nighy suggestion in the comments[^])?

Benedict Cumberbatch James Nesbit Matthew McFadyen Rupert Grint Alan Tudyk Colin Salmon (Luton Boy) Dara O'Briain Richard Armitage Any of the above would be excellent. (Yes, even Grint)

Possibly, fork that for a game of cookers.

As Pete O'H partly alluded it's an acronym for : Fork That For A Game Of Conkers. It's a UK idiom that I don't think I've heard anywhere else but it's relatively common here but whether it's "travelled" around I don't know. You'll have to lookup the game of conkers as it's also particular to UK schoolboys; until the the Health and Safety Executive stepped in and virtually outlawed it because of the risk of injury playing the game. As they say about the HSE, fuck that for a game of conkers. ;)

If there is one thing more dangerous than getting between a bear and her cubs it's getting between my wife and her chocolate.

When I first saw Matt Smith as the Doctor I was critical of him as the Doctor. However by the end I have come to think that he is one of my favourite representations of the Doctor - he has the eccentricity as well as humanity and humour that I associate with the Doctor :) It will be interesting to see what happens with John Hurt. I know it won't happen but the living person who most represents the Doctor to me and who, if he was an actor, I think would do very well as the Doctor is Neil deGrasse Tyson Wikiti Clickety[^].

Never heard "game of conkers"; I always say "game of soldiers". Was it changed just to confuse the merkins?

I've not heard of the soldiers version. I remember the conkers version from school and I've heard it used a few times since then. I presume you blokes don't live in the UK?

I am kind of curious as to why there is a controversy when the end of the show said "...introducing John Hurt as Doctor Who". Why doesn't that answer the question? What did I miss?
