"Job for the Queen before new carriage is heard at the back door."(7,4) Not too hard, but good luck anyway.

Postern Gate Job - Post Queen - Er New - N Carriage = gait (but heard makes this gate). The back door = The Postern Gate was a secondary, hidden door.

Amitosh, I can see your reasoning but the jump from "intern" to "ern" isn't clear to me. I think Pete's answer above is the right solution. No matter the explanation, you're way ahead on these things than I am! :)

If there is one thing more dangerous than getting between a bear and her cubs it's getting between my wife and her chocolate.

intern to ern narrowing is by this simple algorithm stay + vacation = staycation Similarly, post + intern = postern! Anyways, to be honest the back door and carriage is heard was enough :-O ;)

You get ER from Queen because Her Majesty is Elizabeth Regina (or ER).

She does indeed. It will be a sad day for the Monarchy when Charlie Boy takes over. And possibly the beginning of Britain (what's left of it by then) becoming a republic instead of a constitutional monarchy. The idea of a "President of Britain" doesn't appeal much, what the the current crop of political lightweights we have at the moment - but if the choice is Charlie and Camel Face Partly Bald, then...

Cromwell had the right idea. However, rolling forward through the years how would we cope with the parliamentary scandal associated with Chief Minister For Warts? I worked with a bloke from a previous firm's Paris office who had a distant connection to some duchy of some kind in France. He lamented the loss of his "inheritance" because of the revolution. Charlie Boy will make a good "king". As a role model he's as good as it gets, namely an adulterer. Suspicions are he was dipping his wick in Camel Face's trench while servicing Diana's Fiesta at the same time. Mind you, she was rumoured to have decanted James Hewitt's claret bottle over several years. ;)

But yeah, he had the right idea.
