How much does Facebook care about Freedom of Expression?

They shouldn't, unless Facebook is the government and I don't think they are. Only governments are bound to respect freedom of expression of citizens. And I don't think it is even a universal thing. Many countries have laws about 'hate speech' and other bullsh♥t. Privates entities may allow you or deny you right to use their property to express your opinion as they are pleased.

Saying god does not exist may offend believers, but it is not "hate speech". We don't consider the writings of Neil DeGrasse Tyson, Sam Harris, Richard Dawkins etc. as "hate speech". There's something seriously wrong with people who do, and, Facebook belongs to that category.

You missed my point. Facebook does not care about atheism, religious, free speech, hate speech, (not)offending someone... All they care about is whether something is good for their business or not. And they think the group in question is not. So find another social network, because Facebook has no obligation to use their resources to broadcast your opinions, even if they are correct.

Whatever happened to corporate social responsibility ? Furthermore, this sort of thing is against the fundamental principles of the host country (United States) they operate from. If the US government can tell auto manufacturers not to manufacture gas guzzlers, it should be able to tell companies in their jurisdiction not to support Al Qaida and the Taliban. I am not sure if Facebook isn't breaking any US laws by doing this.

Wow! And you consider yourself a free thinker and a rationalist. I almost got a seizure.

Nothing. It's the same old bullshit term coined by companies for marketing purposes so they can sell their products to socialists easier.

Except that it isn't. It exactly in the line with their fundamental principles: government should not infringe your right to free speech, private entities can do whatever they are pleased with their property, even deny you access to their resources that you need to exercise your free speech. All great principles.

So, you base your conclusions on morally corrupted, irrational and utterly stupid example of abuse of government power that is ultimately against those fundamental principles that you, allegedly, hold dear.

You want to use force and authority, in your case the government, to promote your agenda. Not to mention the consequences that your agenda will have on financial freedoms. Free thinker? Rationalist? Yeah right. It looks like you and them are not that different.

I don't remember article mentioning those and the site is down so I cannot confirm this. So now we are equating religious fundamentalism with terrorism?

Get back to me when you are sure. Happy witch hunting.
