:omg: I wonder how you can really want to write something like that : different fonts, different colors, different sizes, garbage between the lines. And I did not even talk about the fact that the joke, if that was the intention, is pathetic. Still, the question remains : What mystery forces can bring someone to the idea to write such a weird post in such a weird manner without noticing that it is ridiculous ?! :~ I sometimes lose faith in humanity, really-

to be fair I think the colours etc are the fault of using LOLCODE not the poster, why the poster is using LOLCODE is a different question one that is far harder to explain

I don't mean to be rude, but if I can give you a piece of advice, I think something like this would get a better reception if you posted it in GIT[^] Indians seem to find such things fun (and that's quite ok), but most people in the Western world don't appreciate it...

Not all Indians! There are oddballs like me, who don't find such posts funny. :)

Wait hold on. Apologies to Amitosh, but I don't get this joke either. And I'm not complaining, but "you Indians" just seems to be a little, you know, provocative.

I suspect this is a subtlety of English not likely to be picked up by those who don't use English as their main language. Drop the "you" and it becomes less provocative (even if the actual meaning hasn't changed), it might even be that the "You" is needed in the equivalent sentence in the OP's language, if so this sort of thing would be doubly excusable. In his other comments, he's pretty much picked up on cultural differences, and been explicitly neutral about them. I've yet to read an emetic tale of morality/inspiration here that wasn't posted by a member whose account is either registered in India or has an Indian username. Humour is most certainly cultural, he was also very non-judgemental about that too.

You're right. Now that you point it out, I can see that there is a slight difference, but to be honest, I didn't think about it before. Mostly because I didn't mean it as an insult and also didn't see it as such. Thanks for pointing it out.

I can't explain it, I'm sorry. But I've noticed from visitng GIT from time to time that there are some cultural differences in taste between Asians and Westeners. For instance, a lot of Indians seem to like long inspirational and moral telling stories that can make me and most of my colleagues break out in a puking orgy. Also, there seems to be differences in what people find funny in different parts of the world (not just India vs. Europe, other parts of the world too). I'm not meaning to be racist at all, it has nothing to do with race, and there's nothing wrong with it, just that people like different things. The reason I mention it here is that I don't find the text remotely funny/intersting, and thus I assume that because the OP has posted it in the first place, he obviously does.

So you are judging the Indians by this post? Being Indian I don't find this post as fun. It annoys me more than you. If someone does something stupid you trying to relate with his/her country? How much do you know about Indians? You know how many Indians lives in this world? GIT or this post would be very small to judge them. I know you don't want to be rude but i didn't like your words.

to be fair I think what he was saying was it didnt work in a "western" context and maybe it was cultural and it would work in a "Indian" one (being as the OP is an Indian), this would actual imply that he was unused to Indian attitudes and was giving the OP the befit of the doubt, however it would seem that it is a case of the OP being out of context as his "joke" ist being found remotely funny by any culture

LOL-anything isn't funny anyway, it sounds plain retarded to me (regardless of who writes it, and I think there are plenty of westerners who frequent such sites). The occasional post here will have to be excused... but a daily post seems to be pushing it a bit.

You may like to rethink that. This sort of rubbish is really not Lounge material.

Could someone explain this to me? What is it that Indians appreciate that Westerners don't? I found the OP very confusing so I'm wondering about cultural differences.
