How many still prefer "real books"

Oh yea, forgot that, I wouldn't use an ereader in the bath, although mine is almost permanently next to the toilet these days.

I got a Nexus 7 for Christmas, and haven't opened a printed book since, and I normally read one or two fiction novels a week (I can read a novel in a couple of hours if it's seriously good) I can't honestly see me going back to print...

So far I am trying ebooks on the computer. I like real books better. I should point out that I really only read tech books.

I mostly read dead trees. There is something tactile about a book that you can't get from an eReader. Most nights after supper, we sit down and read; not just Mrs Wife and I, but the girls too. Reading is wonderful and it fuels the imagination as opposed to TV which tells you how to envisage stories. Sat behind my chair now is a book case with, at a case, 300-400 books. Half are mine and Mrs Wife's, but the others are the girls. It is wonderful to see them choose to read and also their choices of stories. Okay, 83% of the books are 'princess' stories but there is a mixture including a lot of Horrible History. I'm not in a hurry to move from ink to bits and I don't see Mrs Wife or the girls choosing to do so soon either.

Paper all the way. Every intellectual should have a library to flaunt. Can't do that with an eReader.

My daughter has hundreds of books, gets more almost weekly, and 5 a month from the library too. The kindle is strictly mine. All my old books are in the loft, and there are plenty of them, just don't have room for a bookcase.

Ebooks are nice when you want to hit ctrl-f and find something. What, there's an index in the back of the book? Too slow!

Generally speaking, it is paper books only. I also print PDF manuals to be able to thumb through, highlight sections, write notes, etc. There are one exception, though, I do have the Bible on both my phone and tablet. I will always have one of them handy, but not necessarily the printed version. Tim

I am battling using a the Kindle App on a tablet & phone, fan of portability & relative damp proofness, but for searching I prefer dead wood :) For circuit diagrams they are useless...

I've turned to the e-dark side a couple of years ago; best move I ever did. the kindle is not a perfect gadget, but it is damn close for simple fiction/novel/non-fiction reading. I cleaned up the appartement and recycled more than 20 boxes of books. BUT i kept a few dead-tree books, mostly kitchen/recipe and coffee table books; and I still buy magazines.

I still read paper books. Also technical manuels, where I can quickly find the solutions to some problems. And of course good crime stories are much better on paper, I don't know why. On the other side, for coding problems, I don't use ebooks but sites like CP and MSDN, just so easy to copy / paste the samples.

Not me. Reading paper books is fine, but storing them is painful. Besides, there are many excellent e-books that can be purchased for pennies.

Depends on the material, for just plain reading, I like books. I can put them on my shelf for later. If yahoo, google, kindle or whoever decide they want to take my books back, at least then, I have a chance of giving them a good whack upside the head before they get their hands on them. For technical material a searchable e-book can't be beat. I only need to read the relevant material and if need be I can copy paste the subject or code that I am interested in. There are many good sites out there where you can download good books for free such as http://it-ebooks.info/[^].

Dead trees all the way for me. At least with a proper book, the publisher can't break into your house and take back your copy for licensing reasons. They also can't stop you from lending/giving the book to someone else.
