Anything - anything - other than what they have now is fine by me. It takes well over a minute just to display a simple page as it is. I voted for number 3 too.

3, it looks less cluttered without that bar at the left, options should be at the top just like a standard menu. When I use Outlook I turn off that side bar thingy and the same in any program I use, I can never get enough desk space. User interfaces have become un-necessarily cluttered over the last while with too much stuff vying for your attention when all you really want to do is get some work done.

How about #4 - correct, relevant information. Improve search engine. Reduce reload times. In other words, don't focus on the facade, get the guts working right. If I want ambiance, I'll go to La Chatelane.

I personally, did not like (3) because it seems unnatural to have right side navigation. I never instinctively look to the right side (usually just ignoring ads on the right side) for options. I have never liked having to read text that is crammed to the left side of the screen and always prefer an offset to indent the text. Their current design has always looked fine to me. The only improvement I would make is to allow user customization in context placement so that I can hide features I do not want and to promote content that applies to me requirements. Rocky Moore <><

Well this is a tough one for me. Since I'm developing an enterprise based solution, the amount of information that can be displayed in a given page, can be overwhelming. How do you balance the right information for the right user. It's such a difficult task. The only way I can think of is to allow the user to customize what's displayed. With that said, for a basic entry page, #3 is OK, but getting the right info to the right user, #3 doesn't do it. I prefer #2 and I do like the right side modules of #1 for displaying "quick info" as long as I can customize it. Note, I'm talking strickly UI and not load time and other the other things that make a great site.
