We have one not too much smaller than that in our ceiling... I'm dreading the day it falls through...

So no possum problems then! At least the snake will be quieter than the possums. Does the snake crap in the ceiling?

No they are just the ones you worry about, note the little old lady helping to lug the beastie around, she would not do that with a tiapan.

Didn't know a python could be that long. Here some people have the habit of importing them (illegally), stuffing them inside bags in their car. Last month at the customs, a man was stopped, having four (4 !!!!) pythons two meters long in the car! Where they puppies?

It's not a pet... it's an... err... visitor... (I live in a semi-rural location.) You can keep them as pets here, but you need to have a licence and holding facilities... no one would want one that big for a pet!!

Won't the fire department or someone like that help you if you ask for? Here in India, the fire department will provide help for things like this also.

It's very close to the record (5.74m) and it isn't common. Unfortunately, most domestic ones share a command name: "Monty"... I like snakes, but even small pythons are not a good idea to keep at home - general rule for snake handling is "one person per meter". Exceed the length and you start to get into dangerous territory - they are seriously strong animals!

We have snake catchers we can call on if needed... Until it's actually inside the house (or causing a problem), they tend not to worry too much for pythons, which are non-venomous...

Where did you get this record from? Pythons can grow to over 8m... 5.7m is pretty big... The one in my ceiling is over 4m long, and fatter than the one in the picture, so I reckon it's probably close to 5m by now... I'm not catching it to find out!!

It probably does, but I've not noticed... Possums tend not to live in our ceiling (for obvious reasons), but there are plenty outside in the trees... One night, there was a smaller snake (probably around 3m) up the tree chasing possums...
