Bacon wrapped, cream cheese stuffed Jalapenos.

Yeah, that's right. I just wolfed down an undisclosed number of those babies. I bought them at Costco last week and have been waiting for an excuse to pop them in the oven. Unfortunately it was a mixed experience, let me run through the pros and cons. Pros - They are wrapped in bacon. Cons - The box said the jalapenos were mild. I eat Mexican food all the time, in Mexico. I like when the food is a bit on the spicy side, but these things crossed the line. My lips are still burning. - The instructions said "Broil at 385°F on a baking sheet". There are two problems here: 1) Broil is on/off on my oven with no option for a temperature setting. Even so, I somehow managed to get them cooked just about right. 2) I was extremely fortunate that my baking sheet had a small rim instead of being completely flat. You see when bacon gets hot, it starts to sweat... Even with the rim, I had to use a couple of paper towels to prevent the bacon juice from spilling all over the oven. I had to take a breather before eating the last one. That's when I found out that they actually taste better when they are not steaming hot. Soren Madsen

Heathen! That is honest to Bob goodness you're dumping! Any meat juices, BACON especially, should be kept and you can then add it as part of the stock when you're cooking. BACON fat is the Bog's Dollocks for chicken!

I needed a breather after reading about the sweaty bacon. That's essentially erotic literature.
Hmmm...Come to think about it, the whole thing might not be KSS. They were the long jalapeños and with Cream cheese inside... I can just feel the arrival of Abuse reports and requests for moving this thread to The Box. :-O Soren Madsen

Apologies, you are correct. The problem was that I could not move the darn thing without spilling and I actually don't do that much cooking here in this house. Soren Madsen

I had an interesting new experience last month; I found some olives, each one stuffed with a whole chili. The were a little bit naughty, but each one I ate made me sneeze once. I have never had that reaction to spicy food before.

I get that with some spicy food, Sriracha chili sauce sets me off into fits of sneezing while curries don't. I sometimes get hiccups too if I start off too quickly. All good fun.

I just looked up broiling and it said to stop the on/off open the oven door so it stays on. (override the thermostat so it stays hot in direct heat and doesn't juice up) http://bbq.about.com/cs/cookingtips/a/aa112302a.htm[^] They sound really nice. I want some now.
