Have you guys watched Sherlock[[^](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sherlock_\(TV series) "New Window")]. I know...I know it's quite old and I had watched it in long back but was going through my old DVD and watched it again yesterday. I have to say this is the best Sherlock can get. it makes the movies looks like a joke. And if you haven’t it’s must watch .

I really liked the different approach... not just copying the stories.

I enjoyed both series of Sherlock. Their contemporary style is indded refreshing, especially if you've only seen the movies starring Basil Rathbone and then the earlier series with Jeremy Brett. The new Sherlock does stretch the plots in ways which someone looking at the older productions might find a little confusing. I certainly believe that my appreciation of the series Sherlock was much better given that I had seen the older productions. For sure, Sherlock gave ACD's books a new twist and arguably, could there have been a better choice than Benedict Cumberpatch in the lead role?

If there is one thing more dangerous than getting between a bear and her cubs it's getting between my wife and her chocolate.

Still not a patch on the two old series, one starring Jeremy Brett (currently on ITV3), the other Basil Rathbone.

          Use the best guess

It is one of my favorite TV Show. Never liked the movies... But I still dont get it, why Dr. Watson is in the shadows all the time. He should be given bit more importance. And if you want to watch similar quality show then try Luther[^] if you haven't.

Second that: one of the best crime shows I've seen. Love watching him and Alice work with each other.

Although I like the new series very much, it is Jeremey Brett's version all the way for me.

I liked the first season of Sheerluck best because those were brand new stories. The second season seems to be adaptations/rehashes of the old stories...

well I haven't watched it. but one thing that goes in favour of current series is the they have made it in current time and it gives a new prospective... like waiting a blog instead of Journals... and not to mention the moriarty charter in the series is in same league of joker of dark night

Watched the first series quite recently for the first time as I missed them when first on, and thought they were brilliant, excellent writing. The second series was supposed to be shown on BBC again starting last Saturday but was cancelled due to the Wimbledon semi-finals, although the first episode was still made available on the BBC iPlayer.

That's my sentiment up to a point as well, Richard. The old 'uns and Brett's series are excellent. Mrs. Wife offered to buy me the box-set. I passed the offer up at the time but I might well do so now as it often catches my eye when we go into HMV.

If there is one thing more dangerous than getting between a bear and her cubs it's getting between my wife and her chocolate.

Didn't they go bust and close down at the start of the year?

Not all of them. The one in Horsham is still open and I think the one outside Crawley Mall is as well. I think just the lesser profitable ones survived the cull.
