              The brand is known in Germany too. Though the name is pronounced differently here, the joke was still understandable without explaination. :)

                I don't know that I agree with that. There are enough different dialects represented here that a soap brand that is common in the UK (and elsewhere apparently) may not be available in other parts of the world. Being from the US, Ariel is the little mermaid, so I'm very confused by the joke without the explanation (though I try not to be one of the people who attack the jokes I don't understand or just aren't funny).
