I saw it as a sign of solidarity -- I mean, we British have to hate the French by law, so it's nice to see our Leftpondian brothers supporting it.

There are laws about paying your meter bill. There are no laws about building a world destruction laser in a secret volcano lair.

I see that the world media is portraying the USA as having a huge melt down over the verdict in Trayvon Martin/George Zimmerman case. Just so you know, yesterday in my home town I went for a long walk, had a Margarita on the front porch of my uncle's home, and played video games with my daughter. There was an up-ended garbage can downtown - possibly the result of some violent protest - but most likely up-ended by my neighbor, Mrs. Eire, aged 96, who has tendency to bump into things with her 1989 Oldsmobile. I didn't meet anyone who had any clue as to what was going on with that case. In short, most of America doesn't care and most of America looks on with utter amazement as cesspools like L.A. and NYC descend into violence at every opportunity. Bear in mind that these are the two locations in our country that people go to when they want to establish an acting career - over acting is what they do. So I propose we make a deal: I suggest that I won't believe the news outlets when they find Euro-scum and portray human debri as representative of some vast movement across the pond if you'd return the same courtesy. Thanks.

I live in Florida about 3 hours from Tampa and to be honest I didn't know the verdict until someone told me. Traffic was light today, there was a mild cold rain all weekend.

Not all of LA or New York are cesspools: only the bits where the rioters live. Must say I find it ironic that you protest against violence by being violent and trashing your own back yard. As an aside, since when has justice had anything to do with the law? He was found not guilty by a jury of his peers: that should be the end of it.

Personally, I do not understand the logic of: Smashing store windows, overturning cars, looting, beating people up, setting fires, etc, in order to: protest violence in society....

If only that's what they were protesting. I think the people doing these things just look for an excuse to break stuff.

I'm curious why some many here of English origin assume that those in the USA have English roots? According to this[^], those who admit English ancestry rank fourth in terms of population percentage.

                                        Apparently you missed Alfie.

Well, "missed" is subjective. Just because I did not include the "Alfie era", doesn't mean it was missed for inclusion, but that I only included the "Bond era's" of the 60's & 90's. This set is not an absolute definitive, but an enumerated set wherein any other era(s) is/are neither denied nor impaired from such enumeration. Be that as it may, altogether, a focused enumeration does not preclude the absence of otherwise declarative attributes herein qualified as optionally identifiable potential candidates therein. I miss England and would love to visit again. Alas, much has changed, I'm confident, since 1983.

                                        This sentence is a lie.
