That's great and an example of incomplete coding. Reminds me of the Left vs. Right Twix commercial.

If MS made a chocolate bar it would probably have excellent chocolate outside, and a breezeblock in the center... :sigh: Then in version 8 they would replace the chocolate with marmite / vegemite - but make the breezeblock smaller.

I like Win 8, it's a must with a touch screen (unless you're running iOS or Android already, obviously!)

If you double click the top or bottom of a window which you have the Up-Down arrow cursor, it snaps to full height, without affecting the width. Nice! Unfortunately, it doesn't work for the sides...ho hum.

I've known about it but I rarely use it. Instead, I use the drag onto/off of the top of the screen (maximize and restore). As well as Win+Left/Right/Up/Down to move windows around. :)

djj55: Nice but may have a permission problem Pete O'Hanlon: He has my permission to run it.

Are you saying that this is a bug? This is an advertised feature of Win7, it doesn't do it in the horizontal because of the way the desktop resolution is managed (expand on one display or entire desktop? This requires a question, so it isn't implemented).

If you didn't know about that one, do you know if you grab a window by the title bar and shake it with your mouse, all the other windows minimize? :)

Yes. That feature dates back to the window manager they introduced in Vista. Basically it does the same thing as the MacOS maximize button. Double-click the top/bottom border for Mac-style maximize. Double-click the actual titlebar for a Windows-style maximize, the same way it's always been.

Ummm no. While desktop expansion might be horizontal by default, many of us, myself included, use vertically stacked monitors to expand the desktop. Cheers, Peter

Not sure if I understand exactly what you are trying to do. But try Windows Key + Left Arrow and Windows Key + Right Arrow on a non maximised window.

Not a bug, an incomplete feature. They could always allow you to double-click to fill the screen sideways, then double-click again to expand in the same direction to the next monitor. Having multiple monitors is not the end of the world.

Just tried it in Win 8. Damn! I did not know that. Useless I think since I prefer the show desktop (Alt+Tab or shortcut) version better.

I find I have less problems if the monitor with my e-mail client is stacked facing away from me.

It took me a while to realise you meant the sizing cursor. I kept clicking my mouse wheel to get the scroll-arrow thingummy. Monday morning must be late, this week.

No, those are really handy (particularly when copying files around), but that fills that half of the screen with the window. The equivalent of this would make the window full width, but leave the height unchanged.
