Confusing... The title implies that it's about digital design, which it isn't at all. Congrats, though. Publishing a book on a technical subject is no small feat! :-D

Ok, its not an ad, you definitely don't know how much effort it takes to write a book, it took almost two years and if sharing that with my code project friends is an ad then I don't what is not

Well, quantity of work required is not up for debate, nor relevant in _Maxxx_'s statement. An ad is an ad is an ad. Promising a cheap price in return for a good review is dubious at best. Ever heard the term vote-buying? To add further insult to injury, Amazon proudly proclaims: "Publication Date: June 1, 2013" Which was roughly 6 weeks ago. A person could be forgiven or thinking that this date in the past combined with your attempt to buy reviews was an indication of sales that fell short of expected figures. Reporting a post as abuse is a hefty stick to wield. I won't hit you with that particular one, though if the lounge still allowed downvotes, you'd get mine. Again, the quantity of work and effort required to produce the book is immaterial to my opinion and is not disputed. I'm sure creating the book took a lot out of you. But my $0.02 says your post is an ad. As always, you can't disregard an opinion you're not aware of..

I was thinking it is "Digital Circuit Design". Apparently, it is not. This looks like User Interface Design.

GUI Design would be accurate; digital design is hardware. Still, if it grabs attention, it works. :-D

Digital design is the design of digital circuits. If your book has this as a title, then you are not attracting the people that are interested in that subject, and anyone interested in digital design (the circuit kind) will put it back on the shelf. Oh yeah and you are spamming here with an ad in the Lounge. I'd say strike one, strike two and strike three.

Yes it is. You are advertising your book and even offering a discount price.

Yes I do. I have written both a novel and a technical book (serialised) - I know exactly how much effort is involved (although, granted, not in yours, as all the preview from Amazon shows is lots of screenshots of various GUIs)

Well I am sure many people on this site have taken a long time and a lot of effort to produce various things - and they don't advertise them here without paying CP - which is how this site is kept going (Chris, I understand, is not independently wealthy)

Sharing with your friends? Do you normally ask your friends to buy your products (I'd consider that quite rude in person!) In the past you have shared a chapter of a book you've written as an article - that, I feel, is a good way of both advertising and sharing - we get something for free and you get a free ad. Just posting what is essentially a "buy my book" post is, though, a one-way transaction.

I think you misunderstood I am not asking to buy my book, i said i can get it for you for a discounted price if you are interested. I have to buy it and ship it to you the least price. Imagine a codeproject friend who want this book, what is his option buy from amazin for $25 now since i know him through code project, i can send him a book for $18. It will be an advertisement if i am selling it for profit. I am actually giving it in the price which i am getting from the publisher how os that advertisement. Also as a software developer, i have wruitten this book for all the developers in the world who wants to understand design, if i dont tell them about the book how will they know? You can only think of selling of the book? Do. You see any value if the book is written to help you? May be you will understand. Well good day

Yes i see the point the word digital has been overused 10 years ago for circuit design, which does not make any sense though. Digital is software design but have been used for hardware design so the confusion. But now the meaning has changed a lot, digital design is actually about design of a software on a computer.

I'm certain you are very altruistic in your desire to give your book away to CP members. In my experience a publisher normally provides a large number of books for 'promotional purposes' which you can give away (or, I suppose, sell) to friends and family. I'm surprised your publisher makes you buy the book! ad·ver·tise·ment /ˈadvərˌtīzmənt/ Noun A notice or announcement in a public medium promoting a product, service, or event or publicizing a job vacancy Notice there is no mention of the word 'profit' in that definition.

Well, I can only imagine you wrote the book for profit as it is being sold and not given away? So the book is a commercial product. Get over it. You wrote a book and got it published - and for that, well done, it is indeed a hard slog, and getting a pat on the back from your online chums is well deserved. Advertising it in the CP forums, however, is against the guidelines. end of story.

Someday if ever you write a book, may be then, only then you might understand, ok you win now, its an advertisement done in a very bad taste if thats what you want to hear, i used to have a lot of friends at code project once, who wrote books, and who respected other authors, who would think otherwise but i think they all left the lounge, may be i know the reason why.
