When I installed Windows 8 on my computer, I selected to install the localized Swedish version. Not for any particular reason, I just prefer that. And without ANYTHING having happened, suddenly when I booted my computer yesterday, everythig was in English. Never mind, I can live with that, but I really don't understand WHY?!?!? When I google it, I can see that a lot of people have problems with Windows 8 randomly changing the selected input language (a problem I haven't had yet), but I haven't seen anybody report a complete change of OS language. [Cue src="Twilight Zone"] Extremely strange! [/Cue]

There are two possibilities: 1. It read your outgoing mail, noted the web-sites you visited, and listened to your skype calls, then decided that, because you used English at least once, it should be in English. 2. When it found that you were using a non-English version, it contacted the US authorities, who decided that it would be too much work to translate all your ingoing and outgoing communications, so they recommended that it switch to English, so that they would have to do less work.

(evil) The random locale change bug returns! I general have UK and US keyboard settings on all my windows machines and every version of Windows from 95 to XP SP1 switches UK to US without warning or intervention about once every 3 months. It took Microsoft 10 years to slay that one, maybe somebody pulled out the stake. It's back and it's madder than ever

Usually by activating one of the keyboard shortcuts. So it's accidental, rather than randomly. Regarding the OS language change: maybe you are sleepclicking?

I have 2 laptops, one with a UK keyboard and one with a US one. I set the keyboard to US on the US laptop and my MS account syncs that up to the cloud. Next time I come to use the UK laptop the keyboard is set to US. Its relatively deterministic, although quite annoying.
