Think about it: 273ms is indeed 273 ms: it's also 1/4 second...and that's a loooong time to many people. If I want to take a picture of a race car, 1/4 second means I get the empty track. A cat will smell the CCD and stop being cute in that time. A child will stop smiling and remove the lollipop from her hair... If I have pre-focused and metered, then when I press the button, I want the picture now!

Couldn't agree more. I keep getting caught by the focus time because I forget to prefocus. Or I do, squeeze a little hard and take a pic of nothing; then have to deal with recovery time... Cheers, Peter

You should write a book on spelling - I would understand your words then...

How bad would this be for a camera? Will this be totally annoying or bearable? I understand a 273 ms is 273 ms, but trying to realize if it would really spoil the experience.

Such a lag would make proper photography impossible.

Mutations occur in individuals: they only become evolution when they are accepted by a much wider population. Similarly, inventing words is all very well; they need a meaning if they are to become common currency.

That's bad enough to prevent you doing any photography that involves action shots, I'd say.

I would never call an evil overlord with a secret volcano [extinct] base and an army of ninja sheep "common".

I've got a p&s with ~100ms shutter lag. Taking pictures of anything moving is a PITA at best; impossible at worst.

Did you ever see history portrayed as an old man with a wise brow and pulseless heart, waging all things in the balance of reason? Is not rather the genius of history like an eternal, imploring maiden, full of fire, with a burning heart and flaming soul, humanly warm and humanly beautiful? --Zachris Topelius Training a telescope on one’s own belly button will only reveal lint.
