I was aware I had blown some fuses on the Lounge, recently, setting off, among other responses, a warning from God, but I didn't think any type of search activity on Google would generate a web-page that asks me to complete a "capcha," and says this: "Our systems have detected unusual traffic from your computer network. This page checks to see if it's really you sending the requests, and not a robot. Why did this happen? IP address: my IP address Time: current time here" I have never seen Chrome put up a page like this, and I'm not about to fill in the "capcha," and confirm I am not a robot ... The search terms I have been entering are mainly related to linguistics, some are a bit esoteric, but none, or all of them, have, I think, some hidden sub-text that might diddle NSA. Time to run the anti-badware full-scan using EmsiSoft !

I have had couple of instances when I got this message. In both cases I was browsing from my office and all the system here shows same IP over the web. So the message made sense. I entered the capcha and could resume normal browsing again.

Happened to me a while back. Don't think I entered the captcha. I think I may have cleared my cookies to fix it.

I have had this message several times from Google when using an anonymous proxy

It's well known that if all the cat videos and porn disappeared from the internet there would be only one site left and it would be called whereareallthecatvideosandporn.com

It means what it says. :) If you're in a network that sends a large amount of requests, this can happen. Or if you use a privacy tool like TOR or alikes, it can happen too. I don't think your computer is infected.

Then you are definitely not a robot! Any bot would have given a couple of shots at the captch'a

It is a paradox that paradoxes would actually exist in reality. That means of course that they don't exist. However, they do!

 Thanks, Rajesh, I am using a single computer, no network, no wi-fi. I don't use a VPN, or proxy. I don't use any products like TOR. Hard to believe a single individual doing, say, twenty searches in twenty minutes could trigger this from Google. Multiple searches in "bursts" are a common mode of use of Chrome for me. Last I looked my ISP used fixed IP's. yours, Bill

No need to do that. Just take your meds and everything will be alright. ;P Yours faithfully, GOD

 Thanks, Manfred, for relaying the advice (orders ?) of the divine. Since I don't seem to have a direct link, may I ask you to relay this question for me: "With respect, could you please review the meds you advise my taking. Of course I am not implying you could have made an error, since that would be impossible, but, you must admit, from a limited human mortal frame of reference, there are what appear to be a lot of errors ... although, of course, I don't believe that even when it seems irrefutably true. humbly, your creature, Bill" :) yours, Bill

I get it a few times/month at work. I assume it's related to NATting several hundred users onto a single external IP generating unusually heavy aggregate request volumes.

I must have done something to upset the devine being. I no longer receive any responses.

I can think of situations at work where I could use that signature of yours. And I'm planning to get it out casually, like it's mine. ;)
