I like metal and classic rock - basically anything with loud guitars in it. I would like some suggestions for some bands/albums to check out. Can be new or old, doesn't matter. If I already have it, maybe I need to give it another listen.... Any ideas?

Don't know if this is too soft for you, but Our Lady Peace was one of my favourite when I used to listen to rock. Try: Our Lady Peace - Not Enough PS: How is this "different music" to you if you aren't stepping outside of your comfort/preference zone?

Zombie EP[^] - The Devil Wears Prada One of my favorite albums, even if it is only an EP. If you like that "Dead Throne" is another good album by them (I'm not a huge fan of their earlier stuff though).

Not following any particular sub-genre but I've enjoyed listening to Sabaton, Nightwish and The Dillinger Escape Plan recently. Andy B

Yep, bought Fighting the World back when it was new. Really great album. Absolutely love Defender with Orson Welles being the father on the song.... Have to look up the other one though.

I'd also recommend J.S Bach for coding music. Anything from the Brandenburg Concertos, or Gould's Piano recordings, through to the St Matthew Passion or the Mass in B Minor(if you are a German speaker the Mass is in Latin, unlike the Passion which is in German, so it won't mess with your mind...)

Google a band called Lost Horizon. Fantastic band. I don't know why they didn't get bigger than they did. And of course the great Iron Maiden.

I've been listening to some of the posthumous Jimi Hendrix albums. "People, Hell & Angels" came out earlier this year, "Valleys of Neptune" a couple years ago, and "First Rays of the New Rising Sun" back in the 90s. All three of them contain previously unreleased studio recordings from the year or two before he died. I highly recommend all three. Its kinda weird to listen to "new" music from a guy that has been dead for 43 years.

"Live From Austin" (Eric Johnson). Recorded in 1988. An oldie but ... transcendent enough to still exist in the future.
