If you don't need the features only provided by XP stick with W2K. It's reached SP2 and is nice and stable even MS says business should consider XP as a point release. C++/C# Student. Wither Thee VB.Net.

Or, does, anyone know if MS has an upgrade path if you buy Win2K now, and get a free, or greatly reduced upgrade to XP? If so, that might be a path to explore. I personally had problems running Win2K and the 3 games I only play, Diablo II, Half-Life, and Unreal. It would start up run fine, and then die mysteriously, just crash to the desktop without any message or what not. However, this was when Win2k was just released (don't know if I had D2 at the time) So I uninstalled and put Win98SE back on, but it sucks when you are developing stuff in VC or VB :-( Does anyone know if these problems have been resolved in one of the service packs? The only games I play right now are Diablo II, BG2, and Unreal. So far I have not had any problems running those games on my desktop or laptop with Win2K. I have been playing these game since pre-SP1. I am currently at SP2. Kind regards, Tim

I wonder if it's my hardware setup, I have a DIY system, and running everything else seems no problem, it's just games. Sam C ---- Systems Manager Hospitality Marketing Associates

Also doom i, doom ii, quake i (rebuild from sources of idSoftware) for nt, even Dune II (!!) works on all NT4/W2K/W98 computers. This shouldn't be an issue... :)
