Whats the deal.

A while back I had to cancel my Satellite service but was still able to watch some of my favorite shows online. Then they started to add more and more commercials until it almost not even worth the time to even try and watch an episode online on any network. Starting with TNT network I think it was they went to a login format so you had to use your login information to your cable/satellite service to watch an episode. USA Network had gone to a delayed play and now to the provider login model. So it doesn’t make any difference if they end the Burn Notice show. Even CBS.com has their “Under The Dome” in that pay service login model. So what gives? They trying to reduce traffic or what?

I remember that when cable first started several channels had limited commercials. I also remember when you could time things by commercials. As a kid the commercials (locally) where one minute long every fifteen minutes!

They were fine with only showing a few ads when they were getting the ad money on top of your pay subscription. But now because too many people are cutting the cord, if they're ad funded they need to show you enough ads to not only recapture they money they lost when you cancelled your subscription but also the money they lost from the 10 other guys who cut the cord by never watched their network. The 90% of satellite TV channels you never watched are doing the same to people streaming them to recover the money they're not getting from you anymore. PS This is why ala cart pricing for cable that some people cheerlead won't actually save you money; it'll only mean you're paying $90/month for the 8 of the 10 channels you liked best instead of the entire package of 100 (the other two you loved went out of business because not enough people were willing to pay $10/month for them).
Did you ever see history portrayed as an old man with a wise brow and pulseless heart, waging all things in the balance of reason? Is not rather the genius of history like an eternal, imploring maiden, full of fire, with a burning heart and flaming soul, humanly warm and humanly beautiful? --Zachris Topelius Training a telescope on one’s own belly button will only reveal lint. It's a government conspiracy to make you stop watching TV and go outside. Has it worked yet?

Now we are lucky to get one minute of show per fifteen minutes of commercials. (Notice this is only a slight exaggeration.) I have tried to watch shows that have five minutes of show then up to fifteen minutes of commercials. Usually at the end of a movie.

When I recently moved to SC from FL we don't have cable here and don't get regular TV, don't miss it a bit. In fact I haven't even turned on my TV in 3 weeks now. The few times I have watched it was to watch Netflix and I viewed a few of SNL first season shows.
