                      we're going to be paying for this war (and the one in the Phillipines, and the one we haven't finished in Afghanistan) for a long time. luckily, GWB says it's OK to run up deficits. -c

                        First, who isn't calling for less taxes? Except for maybe the people who are benefitting from social services. Who says that there aren't any rich people fighting against the war? Percentage-wise you won't see a big number of them, simply because there isn't a large number of rich people.                           Zogby has him at 57%. Its understandable with all the war talk and the economy (which isn't really that bad contrary to media reports). If the war is quick and decisive, he'll jump back up to 70 or 80. Given time, the economy will improve no matter what GW does.

Unfortunately, the American people are very fickle and will turn on their leaders if they believe too many troops are dying. It runs contrary to what these troops are fighting for, IMHO.

True, but we'll see what happens to them after Iraq is taken care of. I think the populace of Iran is more receptive to western ideas than their government would lead us to believe. We may see a CIA backed rebellion? NK, is in a world of hurt between its sworn enemies of SK, Japan, and the US, and its big brother China who is wary of their nukes as well. Negotiation seems key here.

                                          See, that's one of the main problems I have with what you're saying. We aren't sending troops in to kill children. Bad things do happen in war, but I think our troops will do everything they can to keep collateral damage at a minimum. (Unlike what Saddam would do.)
