Does anyone have experience with EE consultants?

If you meant he should be posting his email as raw text, I agree! ;)

What of earth makes you think that? I was just taking my chances (which are better than roulette)

Marc Clifton suggested (with a laugh) that I ask the "friendly people" on Code Project. I need help with an Expression Engine website: Oysi.org, sponsored by Oysi.Inc. a not-for-profit working with indigenous communities. Our site was "orphaned" at about 90% complete. Our webmaster moved out of the country and discontinued business due to personal reasons. The site is up and running but needs some changes and ongoing support, particularly through a beta phase over the next year. Thanks, Jim O'Hern ohern.jamesm@gmail.com (917) 821-2877
I know an EE guy local to me (UK) that impressed me - but I can only give a half recommendation as I've not actually used him. He looked more like a one man band than an approved EE consultant company though. Background, a few months ago I was looking to hire a web developer for a new project and stumbled upon this guy during my research. I was impressed with his portfolio and his own site. He was using EE which was something I'd not heard of before. It led me to research EE and I quite liked what I found. Sadly EE seemed to implode slightly shortly afterwards - pulling versions only to half reinstate them after a huge community backlash - which left my confidence in the EE platform badly dented. Anyhow, the project never went ahead so I didn't go much further with the research. Anyhow if its of interest let me know and I'll dig out his details.

Thanks for your response. I would very much like to talk to your consultant contact, particularly to get info on EE imploding, If EE is a dangerous, chancey platform to build our website on it would be good to face this now before we develop a lot of content. So, yes, I would like to talk to this guy. Best, Jim

Oysi.Org I find a very attractive site, and, speaking as a poet, oral-performance story-teller, writer, and, through my maternal line, son of a poet and classical-scholar, and grandson of a story-teller, I appreciate what you are doing on your site, and that you, yourself, write poetry ! Ellis Labs (creators of Expression Engine) have extensive lists of available consultants (searchable by Location, Services, and Budget) [^], support plans from Ellis Labs themselves, and forums for asking questions [^]. I would try and locate a reliable source of comparison of costs/benefits/liabilities of using Expression Engine in comparison to other platforms/CMS's rather than base a decision on one or two opinions. And, I am sure research on the web could find such sources. Of course, if you already have a substantial investment in Expression Engine: that's a factor. I have no experience with Expression Engine. good luck, Bill

To be fair imploding was my thoughts as an outsider new to the community. EE were obviously restructuring their business model at the time and there seemed to be a huge backlash in the comments on their blogs/forums which left me with uncertainties about the future of the platform. This must have been a year ago now so presumably things have settled down. Anyhow, I've emailed you the web guy I found near me.
