Ah, we've moved beyond that to the hypocritic oath.

I think it's a disgusting state of affairs.

On Friday evening in Northampton, a young man was walking out of a shop when something was said to him. The man apparently answered but the questioner "didn't like his accent". There followed an assault that left the victim with fractured vertebrata and a cracked skull. The doctor on duty in A&E admitted him to the ICU, recommending a weeks observation before he can be moved. On Saturday the hospital discharged him [he refused to sign anything] into the care of his friend [who also objected and signed nowt]. The reason given was that he wasn't entitled to anything but emergency care as he was a "Bloody Foreigner". The guy has been working for the last 7 years here, paying taxes and NI like the rest of us. The Deputy Ambassador happened to be on duty and tried to intervened, but the hospital refused to talk to her until AFTER the guy was discharged. Now the Hungarian Ambassador has heard the case, there have been some rather terse missives sent to Mr Hunt [with a C] which have now filtered down back to the hospital. The response was that they couldn't check if he was a tax payer and so decided not to give the benefit of the doubt. Yes, I am biased as I have Hungarian family. But come on Britain, this sucks like an eternity of Ms H!

The hypocritic oath, eh? Do they think they work in a ****in' American hospital? I hope it turns into a nice loud international incident.

There is a lot of handbagging going on, but the poor lad is still stuck. Last I heard there was an effort to get him readmitted somewhere else; for some reason he's not keen on going back to the original hospital.

It's amazing how busy everyone gets with paper work and protocol when someone is in need. Here is a radical idea: GIVE HIM A BED IN THE HOSPITAL AND ELEPHANT THE RULES.

It's nothing to do with the Hippocratic Oath; that's only for medical staff. Administrators have no responsibility for anything other than trying not to spend money.

What would he not sign? Sounds fishy to me. They called him a "Bloody Foreigner"? My wife is British, and the last time she was in an NHS hospital earlier this year she had to sign papers of care and consent as you would expect before undergoing surgery.

Pretty sure hospital administrators do not take that oath.
