Powell, saying that sanctions and containment are working: http://usinfo.state.gov/regional/nea/iraq/offtxts/iraqpolicymar0810.htm What about the rest of the GWB govt? http://www.prospect.org/print/V14/3/judis-j.html and... oh yeah, NK just shot another missile towards Japan. and what do we give NK, for their aggression? food. i suppose some "leftist" group is behind that, too. -c

Yep, US policy with North Korea seems strange, but there's gotta be other factors involved that we don't see, like South Korea for example. I'm not saying I agree. I personally wish we could kick their asses too; they seem to be asking for it. But it's silly to think that NK and Iraq should be treated the same. Regards, Alvaro

I think the sentence "Bomb sadaam" was a little bit provocative :) Anyway, thanks for the video.

I hope the joke's on you Karl. I don't know if you care, but I genuinely want people living in oppressed governments to one day enjoy the freedom and opportunity that allows you and I to express ourselves in forums such as this one. Regards, Alvaro

If the real target of this campaign is to free the people, to give them the opportunity to decide by themselves what they want to be, so the Kurds should have their country, as they wish for centuries. And because I believe they won't be allowed to do so, to avoid to obstruct Turkey, I think this argument is a joke, I agree a bad one.

Talk to anyone who was there during those years and they'll tell you Batista was not even 1% as bad as the evil bastard of the past four decades. Hey, I hear Cuba has a shortage of good, genuine communists. Go for it Ed, they could really use you there. Oh, and don't forget to blame all their problems on the US embargo. Regards, Alvaro

How can you compare a bunch of civilian airliners full of passengers being slammed into civilian buildings during peace time, with military planes bombing military targets during a war? Maybe you forget that part of the reason we're going into Iraq to get rid of the government and actually liberate the oppressed Iraqis. And maybe you don't realize that most oppressed people of the world welcome anyone with enough balls to liberate them. Oh no, no, GWB just wants to see how effective our new weapons are for bombing Iraqis, yeah, sure. He's gonna have so much fun doing that! I'll go on the assumption that you're on the payroll of some well funded leftist organization and that you don't actually believe all the stupid crap you write. Alvaro

The Bush Recession? Fortunately, the people who know better know that it's not Bush who caused the current state of the economy. In fact, Bush has been trying to stimulate it, with tax cuts, and other such incentives. It's just so much easier to say the "Bush Recesion" rather than the Post-9/11 economic situation, which was already heading down back when Clinton was finishing his term. *sigh* Good luck Ed, Alvaro

Bush has been "president" for almost 2 1/2 years. It's time to admit that he is in charge and is responsible for our lack of progress. Go on, you can do it. Repeat the phrase "president Bush" until you begin to believe it a little.

I hate to extend this, but it's actually good to hear that you know something about the evils of Communism. Cubans know it well too. The brave ones fought against it, and unfortunately they relied on US support back in the Bay of Pigs fiasco. Some of them died, in battle, on the streets, and inside prisons. Heck, my dad was sent to jail for 3 years when he was just 17. Had he been a year older, he would have been there another 10 years at least. When you look at what's happening in Venezuela today, you begin to realize that it's very tough to depose the tyrant in power when he's in full control of the military. After a while, you lose hope, life goes on, you get married, have kids, and you start thinking of providing them a future in a free society. That's why many people opt for a way out, rather than rot in a jail or die fighting. And the ones who do fight, most people never hear of -- except once in a while in a Cuban radio station in Miami. The American media just shows the ones risking their lives trying to escape. As far as Poland goes, it took them over 40 years to liberate themselves from the Communists (according to this[^]). Cubans have been at it for 44 years so far. Hopefully their day will come soon. Regards, Alvaro
