Half of our IT department smoke (4). They have all started the eCig. Now they are talking about mixing flavors, types of tips, and other related jargon. They seem to be doing well with it, and I am told it is much cheaper.

Back of an envelope calculation (and I have allowed that I will still buy the occasional pack of 20) shows I will be over £2000 a year better off.

I have just purchased an eCigarette. If I cannot stop the smoking, I should at least continue my nicotine craving in a somewhat healthier manner. Plus I can puff away on it in a pub, office etc. Bought some flavours too, raspberry, apple and cherry. It should arrive tomorrow, so I will give a report for those others of us that are addicted to the weed. This was prompted by a friend who said it has not only made him a lot richer but also a lot more healthy. Fingers crossed that this actually works, but for £30 I think it is worth the punt.

£2000? :omg: That's only 4 packs of 20 after the next budget!

Champix[^] is a lot better and cheaper just ask your Quack for them. I was heavily addicted and had tried Patches/gum etc to no avail. They are honestly miracle pills that require no effort on your part. You remember how disgusting the smell of smoking and the thought of smoking was before you smoked? These revert you back to that in a matter of days.

I'd say it is, but then there is "drug paraphernalia" on my desk at this moment, in the shape of a pint glass - I use it for water during the day.

I found out that the only way for me to quit smoking was cold turkey. Patches did not work and was a complete waste of money. So was the other products and gadgets out there. There is a long story behind me quitting so I'll give you the short. When I lived in upstate New York cigarettes were somewhat cheap. I moved to Southern Georgia in 2003, still smoking a pack aday. I went to NY to visit some family and friends in April 2010. I found that cigarettes were around $11.00 a pack. So I thought that this was a God-send and started my journey and quit. After 3 yrs. and 5 months, I still get a slight urge to light up. It's a day to day process so just try to stay away from the coffin nails as long as you can. Hope your quitting is as successful as mine.

It should arrive tomorrow, so I will give a report for those others of us that are addicted to the weed. This was prompted by a friend who said it has not only made him a lot richer but also a lot more healthy. Fingers crossed that this actually works, but for £30 I think it is worth the punt.

I quit about a year ago, and the e-tokes really helped with that. I still keep one around, but rarely use it. IIRC, the nicotine isn't a carcinogen, it's just highly addictive, and the other 400 or so nasty ingredients cause the health problems. Straight nicotine sulfate, minus the other nasties and the hot smoke, ought to be at least a little healthier for you. By the way, I haven't noticed any improvement in physical condition since quitting, so don't expect miracles. On the other hand, 40 years of smoking never had any bad effect on me at all, which made my doctor very frustrated as it removed all his best arguments for convincing me to quit. :-D Your mileage may vary, of course. In any case, it's worth doing - quitting, that is... Good luck! :-D

                                      Will Rogers never met me.

I have just purchased an eCigarette. If I cannot stop the smoking, I should at least continue my nicotine craving in a somewhat healthier manner. Plus I can puff away on it in a pub, office etc. Bought some flavours too, raspberry, apple and cherry. The claim that an electronical smoke is "healthier" has not yet been proven.
