Sounds weird and is most likely better a suitable subject for the Soapbox. ;P Cheers!

10 years old, started with GWBASIC, then a Little bit of DBASEIV (11 years old) and a while after that I started with C (11..12 years old) and of course C++ (13 years old)... Now I'm in robotics and automation in general therefore I'm using Visual C++, HTML, PHP and specific languages to program machines (CNC, PLC and robots).

I had just turned 16, it was the 31st of May, 1975 when I wrote my first program (in assembler) and sent it off over the teletype to the mainframe at Manchester University - the following day I got the results back - it worked! The answer was 4.

          - I would love to change the world, but they won’t give me the source code.

I was 26, just out of the Air Force in 1965, working as a tech in manufacturing for GE, I coded on a coding pad in actual machine language, key punched the program in a Hollerith card (multi-punched 12 bits per column, three columns per instruction word - 36 bit words, 4 9 bit bytes per word - on an IBM 029 card punch), then booted the card into the GE 600 system in single step mode, and stepped through the program to verify a failing loop, then ran the program in loop mode and started scoping the wiring. I'm sorry Mike I really liked you an' all, but now that you've uncovered your membership of the "Secret Squadron" I guess we'll have to kill you. Please do return your official membership card, your official Secret Squadron manual and be sure to also return your combination badge and decoder. Requiescat in pace. P.S.: Don't call us, we'll find you! ;P

Just a moment, did I really post this in a public forum. Arrghh, I guess we'll meet in a couple of minutes, wherever that may be. Laters!

Yes, I can relate to that. I first got into programming when our "computer" teacher at my elementary school back in the early '80s brought in an Apple ][e with Logo on it. Thought it was really cool, and that's where it all started for me.
