Build a new rig next door, with a raised edge. Fill it with the sand, and allow to dry. Voila - a combination creche and sand pit, making your company appear more family friendly! :-D

The sand gets dumped over board, so maybe after a while we will end up surrounded by an island. Maybe order up the deck chairs and sun loungers now for next summer.

Good point. I'm not sure I can remember what I did whilst sat in the toilet at work before I had a phone with some sort of games on it. Shelf of books at home, obviously, but when not a home. Hmm.

Problem 1: How to deal with all the sand one of our wells produces. Problem 2: getting through the next 8 days without any major hiccups before I go home... Think will skip 1 and just concentrate on 2. :-D

Heat it with the gas/oil the well also produces et voilà! You're in the glass business.

Mutually exclusive. We need more wars to relieve the burden on natural resources. Crucially though they need to be wars fought by lots and lots of men with pointy sticks rather than small groups of geeks with remote controls.

It has been quite some time since violence much less wars substantially reduced the population of the world.

well, if "the journey of a thousand miles begins beneath ones feet" : Lao-tzu, circa 604-531 bc (oft mis-quoted/interpreted as '..begins with a single step' btw) and 'Rome wasnt built in a day' then I'll settle for any start of progress from tomorrow onwards
