I'm having a nice hot cup of tea instead. Of course, I am still at work and they have a funny attitude to alcohol in the US.

They turn nuts when they drink it? Or, perhaps its not usual to drink it on a monday?

I think it is more that I am still at work. When I was back in Blighty it was no problem having a relaxing beer at lunchtime but here, in the Nanny State, that is frowned upon.

Although norwegians cant (currently) have alcohol at work, you can drink as much as you please after words, as long as you are sober the next day. You can actually drink quite a lot in order to get sober within 8 hours.

Getting like that here now, I once heard someone say ( in the office in London ) "lunch is for losers" - he was a Canadian though. Do we work to live or live to work ?

Jeez - you mean that your employer actually allows you to get sloshed in YOUR FREE TIME???? How extremely generous of him! I could actually see a Swedish rule being made about not drinking in your spare time on week days, but if such a stupid rule (to add to all the other stupid Swedish rules) were to be made, I - as a Dane - would kindly and politely ask everybody to fluck off and mind their own damn business about what I do in my spare time. That said, they also have another stupid unwritten rule here in Sweden that apparently says that you can drink a normal beer for lunch. Again, as a Dane, I find that ludicrous. They have a very cramped and double standards look on alcohol here. Rant over!

Mulled wine with cloves = frugging horrible.   Really frugging horrible. Mulled wine without cloves = pretty yummy. It's the "Boadithea is pronounthed Boodikka" kind of anal fixation* that makes people keep including it in the recipe. * i.e. they don't know what they're talking about, but some dick said it in some stupid magazine/speculation book/QI episode, and they think they're clever for following like idiots.

Nooo, recovering from a cold and you just reminded me of another good reason to be at home. Very nice for cold times. Have pitty on the poor folk at workplaces that don't allow alcohol as a refreshing beverage during work hours.
