Christian that's it, your Australian citizenship has been revoked, you have until the end of the week to leave the country (and yes I mean Tasmania too). He who does not like vegemite is un-Australian, uncouth and unwanted. Are you sure you are not a Septic in disguise. Vegemite started life from the left over solids from the beer at Carlton United Brewery (that means it must be good to start with, solid beer). I now like to think that quality beers such as Coopers, Cascade, Boags, James Squires are used as ingredients. Who is this American casting aspersions on Vegemite? This from the country that supplies aenemic milk and cheese and has the gaul to server a Bacon and Egg roll on a sweet bagel. No culture and no taste. I drink at least 4 cans of Pepsi Max a day (and a bottle at night), I believe it is called Pepsi One in the US. I had to switch from Coke to diet drinks 18 months ago when diagnosed with diabetes, Pepsi Max was the only one without the metallic after taste. As for Coke now, I can't stand it as I taste caramel flavours in it. Is that close to what you taste Christian or has vegemite destroyed too many og my taste buds? Interestingly, I had a similar addiction to Coke many years ago ( I would wake up craving it ), which probably fuels my aversion to it now. Yes, I'd say the caramel is the aftertaste I find so distasteful. Plus I hate the ubiquitousness of Coke - you need to specifically tell people at places like McDonalds you don't want Coke, and some people use it as a generic term for soft drink. Well, at least we agree on something. Vegemite tastes like Satan's toe jam. The sad thing is my wife has indoctrinated my children to like it. I can barely stand the smell when I make them breakfast, in the early days of our marriage I would go off if she left the lid off, I could smell it across the room. Apparently when they make beer, Vegemite is the sludge left over in the vats. It's the only food grosser than Peanut Butter ( as far as sandwich spreads go, there is heavy competition from a multitude of vegetables, I admit ). Yes, I know it doesn't spread very easy, but if you mix it with enough butter it works fine :) I only had Vegemite once, but that was years ago, imported directly from Australia. I always thought of it as a cheap imitation of Marmite :rolleyes: maXallion

Remember "New" Coke? I worked out at Stone Mountain Park when they introduced it. We stockpiled about 50 gallons of the original. (Actually we forgot that it was there). :-O After they re-introduced the "Classic" formula, we found the "original" and had a taste test. It's just not the same, but loads better than "New" X|

Well, now that is a different thread altogether... I like: Cadbury white chocolate milk, Lindt Lindor chocolate balls (dark preferred), Tasmanian made Blackberry cheesecake ice cream, lemon tart with lots of King Island double cream, double brie turkey and onion toasted foccacia, any of my wife's fine curries, Fruit Loops, creme brulee, Burger King, chinese food, big juicy steaks (medium rare). The good thing about Promite is that they make it by mixing Vegemite with cat urine and the two amazing things are 1/ this process does not make it any more vile, and 2/ it makes it spread easier so it's quicker to feed the kids, close the jar and let the madness come to an end. We have a place here called the Ball & Chain that has amazing steak, but the best I ever had was in a small restaurant that got theirs from King Island. Now THAT was a piece of meat...
