Please step OUT of the car!!

Would somebody please explain to me why it's SOOOOOO difficult for some people to just get out of their car, walk up to a door, and knock? I was woke up this morning by some complete a**hole, honking his horn over and over again, trying to get somebodys attention. Short of slashing their tires or some other activity that might result in ME being punished, and not them, what do you do about inconsiderate pricks like this?:mad::mad::mad: I'm in a quandry. It's even more moronic in these days of cell phones. Just call the freaking person and say "im here, get your ass downstairs" instead of honking like a moron. As you can see I have the same feeling. Lazy people suck.

You can always shout back at them... such as, "SHUT THE <insert expletive of your choice> UP!" If it is something that is repeated, you really should say something to the individual. He may be voilating noise ordinances, depending on where you are and what time of the morning he's doing this. I had something somewhat related happen a while back. I used to live in a condo that was near an interstate. It was in semi-rural Vermont, so not a lot of people would be on the highway at night. But some idiot decided to pull over, get out of the car, and yell at somebody else in the car for 30 minutes or so. This was in the middle of the night, and fortunately he finally shut up and drove off before I did anything (such as call the cops.) I understand the concept of "Freedom of Speech" but that doesn't give you a right to be obnoxious. You can pick your friends, and you can pick your nose, but you can't pick your friend's nose.

oh god... in the house across the street from me, there's a teenage boy and girl who apparently have friends with cars. every day, someone pulls up and starts honking. some mornings, i wish i had a paint ball gun. -c

Its actually illegal in the UK to sound your horn in a stationary vehicle between certain hours. Get the licence number and report them to the police. assuming of course that your in the UK. As your in the USA, check the traffic laws there. There is probably something about it, as it applies to ice cream van jingles etc as well Roger Allen Sonork 100.10016 Were you different as a kid? if it happens on a regular basis call the cops. It is disturbing the peace issue and they will handle it. It won't be easy if it doesn't happen on a regular basis though as i think they need to catch them doing it. We had some cornhole blowing off his horn and sometimes call alarm in our old apt complex and the cops came after a short phone call and fixed the problem. Good luck. I had the self same problem one time. A guy would come EVERY morning to pick his buddy up at the appartment complex where I was living at the time. He'd roll his pick-up right up to the front door of the building and hang on the horn until his friend appeared. As this was usually around 5:30 - 6:00 am it was more than a bit annoying. Fortunately (or not), I lived right above the door on the 4th floor. As such, one morning I was ready with a full gallon can of paint. I took the lid off and dropped it out the window. I didn't stay to look, but I heard the noise (and the screams!) when it hit. Undoubtedly, it left a dent and a whole hell of a mess. The guy stopped parking there - he still hung on the horn, but somehow it lost it's annoyance after that!

Where I live, you can sue for damages (i.e. loss of sleeep) in cases like this. It was put on the books for barking dogs but I would guess it would apply to horns as well. Grab a camcorder and record a few days worth and stop by the police station with tape in hand to file a report. Be sure to grab the license plate. I bet the horn blowing won't last much past that! Todd

Use a real gun, with real bullets. If you're feeling generous, give one warning shot, no more than 6 inches (or 10 cm.) to either side of the driver's headrest. Allowing this kind of poor manners to persist is a disservice to humanity.
