So you know that the backbone of the internet is carrier pigeons, and the telephone exchange is stuffed full of the little darlin's. When you "post" a message it is transcribed, attached to a pigeon and sent to the exchange nearest the website. It's response returns the same way. SO what do you think pays for all the bird seed if it isn't the money you pay for the internet?

Where "is" money to begin with? Surely you're not talking about cash (which has an obvious location), you can't really use that on the internet. Maybe you could say that money "is in the bank", but the bank doesn't have cash lying around to represent the value of your bank account. It's just a number. So does money even exist at all? And if not, does the question where it goes to even make sense? Also, your money is sent through big tubes (the internets!) straight into the vaults of rich people.

You don't pay money for the internet. It's still a free resource. You pay money for the telecommunications infrastructure, electricity, etc. If everyone stopped paying then the people employed either directly or indirectly will lose their jobs. I take it that you enjoy anarchy.

That doesn't answer the question. Start by explaining what a router does. And explain what happens when it fails to do what it does.

Well it's the same as the money you pay for your telephone service. It funds the businesses that maintain the systems on which the internet runs. What did you think, that the entire system runs on thin air?
