Paul Riley wrote: Oh, sorry, I missed that in your first message. You only said it 15 times, not clear enough for me ;P Sorry, I was really excited. Still am. :-D Tomorrow will be another match to watch out for, when England plays Australia. They have the same kind of traditional rivalry between them as India and Pakistan, when it comes to Cricket. I love fireworks in the Cricket ground. :)

And if England wins, you'll likely see me getting almost as excited as you are :) Paul We all will feed the worms and trees

Paul Riley wrote: had some serious confidence issues batting against India, as you may have noticed Yes, that and some very good bowling by our bowlers. And the fact that they were batting second in a day-night match didn't help matters for them. But hopefully they will bounce back with full confidence and announce themselves to the world. Just like India has done so far after losing (putting it gently) to Australia. Paul Riley wrote: And if England wins, you'll likely see me getting almost as excited as you are Best of luck! I'll have the  ready. :)

Yippeeee!!! We won against the Pakistanis. Shoaib Akhtar came to bowl and gave away 18 runs in his first over. He was hastily pulled back from the bowling attack. India won. :jig: Everyone was fantastic. The Pakistanis had put up a good score, and with the kind of bowling attack that they have, I was very skeptical about the Indian performance. Especially considering that our side had to chase, and bat under pressure, something we are not very good at. And then the Pak team had Akhtar Express, Akram, etc which I feel are very good bowlers. Well at least Akhtar bowle pretty fast. And the Indians and Pakistanis were playing against each other after almost 3 years and we have many players in our team who were facing them for the first time. But stil we won. :jig: And convincingly. :jig: Congrats to every Indian. And congrats to the Pakistanis too, for the wonderful performance by their team. It was wonderful the way they came out of their bad form. But the better team won the match. ;P And congrats to all the cricket lovers out there. It was seven hours of total non stop entertainment. And oh yeah, India won the match! :jig:

What???? :omg: :wtf:  So far I haven't heard any such thing, but if this is happening, why oh why? Don't they understand it wasn't Hindus vs. Muslims, it was India vs. Pakistan? And that too in a game. India has two Muslims on the team, Zaheer Khan who is a brilliant bowler and Muhammad Kaif, who is a brilliant fielder and a pretty good batsman too. And he was the one who provided stability to the Indian side when we lost Sehwag and Ganguly in two consecutive balls. All the Muslims in India are as much Indian than any one else. In fact, they are more Indian than the Hindus. The Hindus are here because Pakistan went on its way as an Islamic country, while India chose to be a secular country and this was the only place they could have stayed. But the Muslims in India chose to be here. Rather than be in Pakistan, they wanted to be here. Hindus are here because they didn't have a choice. The Muslims are here because they made their choice. I dare say they love this country more than we do. And to the Muslims I want to say that if you really really love Pakistan and want them to win, please go there. Leave us alone. You guys are giving a bad name to all the good Muslims in our country. I still remember the day when the sister of one of my best friends (a Muslim) burst into tears when India lost to Pakistan in a Cricket match, she was so upset. This is sick, sick, sick! Now that you know the result, you will not enjoy it as much as I did, watching it live. :) After I finished biting my nails, I had to go look for a pencil. The whole innings of Sachin was awesome. And Sehwag's innings too. Short, but sweet. 21 off 14 deliveries. Huge six, and some fours. India's score was 50 after 5 overs. 120 after 15 overs. Whooooo!!!

Paul Watson wrote: Apparently as you hint Indian Hindus are accusing Indian Muslims of secretly supporting Pakistan and not India. Actually both Hindus and Muslims are to be blamed here, not just the Hindus. There are quite a few Muslims in India which do secretly and sometimes openly support Pakistan. It's OK if it is Pakistan vs someone else, but when it is against India, you can't help but feel that these people would be better off in Pakistan, not in India. When you see someone lighting a firecracker when an Indian player gets out on a Pakistani bowler's ball, you just have to clench your teeth in agony, pretend nothing happened and move on. But not everyone can do this. Remember how sentimental India is about Cricket. And don't forget that India-Pakistan relations aren't the sweetest either. And Hindus on their part, (because of such Muslims) assume that just because someone is a Muslim, he/she is pro Pakistan and anti India. This is wrong. Not correct. I know many Muslims of both the varieties personally. And some I've seen in trains and buses and other places. So when you translate this Hindu-Muslim thing to India-Pakistan, you will get much much more than just friction. Most Indians hate the guts of Pakistanis, and the feeling is returned with interest and more (bombs, terrorism, ...) from the other side. The situation is terrible. I am trying my best to get people to overcome this feeling of hate, because it is not going to get us anywhere. And I am also trying to get the support of some Pakistani people on CP here to do the same thing in Pakistan. Politicians and religious leaders cannot solve the problem. They had their chance for all these years, and they have only made the situation worse. And what is worse, they don't want to solve the problem, because this is how they can ensure their win in the next elections. It's all their creation. It is now up to us, the people, the common man on the street, to get up and do something. I believe that when the people in India and Pakistan stop hating each other, the problem will automatically be solved and we can be friends again. Anyway, I am rambling now, someone stop me. :~

Not just that, they find it in their own interest to ride the wave and get more votes. And it's them who fuel the fire. Because this is much easier than getting votes based on actual performance, on issues that actually matter, such as economy, education, health, infrastructure, etc etc. Paul Watson wrote: Show other tolerant but hidden minds that they are not alone in their thoughts. I was one of those millions and billions who think they can't make a difference, because they are alone, and what can poor me do type. It was one of your posts, long long long back, about the power of the common man, your example of Nelson Mandela, how things will start changing when more and more people stand up for what they believe. Not just one post, but I think many such posts. I think this is the single biggest thing that I got from CP. I think it's time I gave credit where credit is due. So, thank you Paul! :) :rose: Well, here is one more common man standing up and waving his hands now. :) As far as I am concerned, the C in CP is as much about Community as it is about Code. If you think what I just said is a bit too corny, let me assure you that it's not corny for me, and I'm not drunk, completely sober, had zero drops of alcohol today, and I've not smoked anything or had any tablets or injections, or anything. :jig:

Brilliant, brilliant match!! Loved every minute of it. Too bad Sachin could not get to his century, but what a rollicking start by Sehwag and the little master. I hope Paul is wrong about the riots. Sports is suppose to bring people together and not create further rifts. Sad state of affairs, if this is indeed true. I did not hear anything so far though. Pankaj P.S: Bring on the Aussies :) We are taking the cup home this time! Without struggle, there is no progress

If i am not wrong, then i think that Pakistani government has not made any restriction on their team to play against India. India is itself not playing with Pakistan as i read from CNN-SI that "under the hood" Indian government has a fear of public reaction if the lose against Pak.

Sigh. I don't know about the Pakistani government, but yes, Indian government has placed restrictions on playing any sport, not just Cricket with Pakistan, in either India or Pakistan. But on neutral grounds, when more than just India and Pakistan are playing, there are no restrictions whatsoever. And before you mention Sharjah, let me tell you that Sharjah is a different story altogether. We don't go to Sharjah to play since a number of years now, much before these restrictions were imposed. These restrictions are not because "the government is afriad of losing the match and hence losing face", as some pseudo-know-all-but-actually-stupid "journalist" puts it. Winning and losing is a part and parcel of every game. The restrictions are there because of safety concernes and as a protest against the alleged support to terrorists from Pakistan. This is not just in sports, but in all activities.

I would have agreed with you except for the fact that Pakistani bowlers can blow the Bangladeshis away with half a fart in their general direction. India did bat well, and that was the reason they won. As for the pitch supporting batsmen, both Pakistan and India got a chance to bat. You can't say that India won just because the pitch supported batsmen. What happened to Pakistani batsmen then? Kashif-Al-Hussain wrote: If Aussies kill England then we may reach super sixes and have one more chance to take revenge from India in Semis Sure! Best of luck man! Provided you reach the semis. Though I won't call it revenge, as you put it. And if this is any comfort to your bleeding heart, let me tell you that in all the ODI matches between India and Pakistan, including yesterday's, India has won 30, and Pakistan has won 52! That's a lot of difference, isn't it? But so far India has never lost to Pakistan in a world cup match. :)

You people played every other game against each other in your native countries during the last 3 years. (Yes, this year for the first time you are not participating in something called SAARC game because of security concerns but i think the other countries are participating in SAARC and none of them complained anything) Rohit Sinha wrote: But on neutral grounds, when more than just India and Pakistan are playing, there are no restrictions whatsoever. This decision was taken just before recent world cup, had there been no tournouments in last three years in which both teams are invited? I think there were many but India refused to go (Bangladesh, Zimbabwe are currently in my mind)

There was no chance at all for Pakistan to win this one after scoring less than 320. The pitch was not supporting bowlers at all. Sachin, of course is a big asset of India team. Though I won't call it revenge, as you put it. And if this is any comfort to your bleeding heart, let me tell you that in all the ODI matches between India and Pakistan, including yesterday's, India has won 30, and Pakistan has won 52! That's a lot of difference, isn't it? But so far India has never lost to Pakistan in a world cup match. :)

They only scored 270 runs in 3 match test series against Australia right after they beat Australia in Australia. They are practicing with Gilli-Danda these days.
