I am using Eclipse for over a week now and frankly I don't like it. I think VS is leaps and bounds better that it. Is there any other IDE I can use for Android development using Java? Since I am just playing around and trying to get hang of android development, I would prefer free IDE or may be a month long trial of a decent paid IDE.

Could take a look at Intellij by Jet Brains. I do some java development for work and don't like eclipse either...im just too lazy to do anything about it but i've heard nothing but good things about intellij. http://www.jetbrains.com/idea/[^]

Yes, Xamarin is bookmarked for later. Once I get a hang of it, I would get paid version of Xamarin. Java is not really a must but since I have never worked with it, it was an additional plus. I am pretty sure I would go back to C# soon.

When I tried IntelliJ about 6 years back, it was worse than Eclipse X|
