That's a shame because I could have invited you onto a project.

A bit off topic... I'm able to see you project - fork and possible change it... Is that because I'm also on Workspace beta - or everyone with the proper URL can do this?

I think anybody (who can log into Workspaces) can fork and modify, but that doesn't change the original code base obviously. It basically creates a new project from another one.

As Ron says, anyone can fork and change it (as long as they have the relevant CP permissions). Can you read the task list though?

That is true. To be fair, the mockups did change after that point. So, now you know what I'm working on for Chris and co.

Typically it would be paid/share for private projects and volunteer for public ones. I could see a big issue in how to structure an agreement such that nobody feels like they are getting the shaft...

What ever happened to the Code Project job listings forum? I remember from a long time ago that people would post listings asking for help with projects there. Do you have a specific need right now or are you just asking in general?

Chris' standard rate. If I do a good job he doesn't send Sean round in his Mankini outfit.

Like every other programmer, I have no superiors and damn few equals. However, from time to time I need help on some projects. How do you find people who are willing to help on private projects? Not something you'd want to farm out to vworker or freelancer, but find people who are willing to join in? Has anybody run a project that found partners online?

I thought there used to be a collaboration forum here. I imagine most of us do non work projects but they tend to single person stuff (mine certainly are) but would be interested in larger projects. Mind you I have about 6 of them that have never been completed :-O

I guess thats a risk you take with any remote worker... The problem as I see it is finding two people that trust each other enough to not want to screw each other :)

Yeah. I actually worked for years with people in the USA who I met on CP, through my articles. They were not even really members in any real capacity, but I started with contract work and moved towards full time. I'd say my advice would be, start slow and get to know whoever you meet before getting too intertwined.

I am not sure I am following you. Can you provide an example. To me a project has several parts/steps/phases/?? o Analysis o Design o Coding o Testing o ?? All of these are controlled by project management. o Reviewing the phases above on-going o Adds/changes/deletes o etc. Do you just want to assign coding classes and objects? Find help with testing? or ??

Typically I have all the analysis and design done, its the coding that I would need help with. For example, I'm working on a scripting project similar to NoFlow/FlowHub, I have a good Version 1 working in WinForms, I'm working on Version 2 and would like to have the new editor in WPF but I don't have a lot of WPF skill (know the basics, haven't done anything of this level), so I need help from a WPF dev who can help guide me. I spec'd WPF for this version because it handles a lot of the fancy features a lot better than WF.

Ron; Would love to help. I am reaaly not a WPF expert either. I use WinForms and create my own WPF-like objects where needed. I may be open to testing though if that helps. Cheers!
