Hey, does anyone have any recommendations for portable storage. Something like Pocketec Pockey - DataStor link[^] I would like something with at least 10gb but more the better and can possibly act as another fixed disk(running programs etc.) Thanks Later,

Killing In The Name[^]If you're gonna get a portable drive, USB and Firwire drives are available. Be prepared to spend AT LEAST $150 on something in the 10gb range. Killing In The Name[^]I got ripped off because we don't have any decent distributors here in NZ So I payed a 680 $ NZ fortune for 40GB which woul translate to maybe 450 US$ One advantage with it is that you can dock the HDD into the USB or Firewire interface, so if you had more than one you could switch them around easy on the desktop. So far on Win 2000 and XP boxes it has been straight plug and play virtually. Zero Drama. On 98 I had to add a driver. Regardz Colin J Davies

Killing In The Name[^]I have not read much about this subject but there are companies that sell < $100 external hard drive cases that use IDE drives and have a USB interface. I assume you can add a < $100 80 GB drive and it will be much less expensive than the models discussed above. After writing this I looked up external kits on price watch. I saw some usb2 cases for $45 and after browsing a couple of the vendors I found 80GB external units with USB and/or firewire for $140US for a Western Digital unit. John

Killing In The Name[^]I recently purchased an 80GB Maxtor external HD. It's great! However, I wish I had looked around a little more first...
