Herr Merkel to address UK Parliament.

No no no no no. You must at the end of the sentence the main verb putten! And dont forget inversion! 'Uber kanst ve' After a preposition the verb and pronoun reverse order. Oh, and that's 'kannen ve' Ve is a plural, so its kannen, Kanst wold go with ich, du, etc tut tut, your Germish needs a bit of work. :)
Actually I am fluent in German, having lived there for several years. It was a satirical side swipe at the English impression of what Germans are like. Several years ago I was in a pub talking to a couple of Germans. The subject got round to The War. One of the Germans asked why we English always bring up the war, and, to a man the five or six other Englishmen at the bar, in unison, said "Because We Won!". Even the Germans laughed at this.

Britain, North Germany, Holland and Flanders should have merged into a single state centuries ago. We have a common language, common religion, common culture and would have been a dominant global force and avoided two world wars. Shame.
So you mean German language, German Religion and German culture?

"We" in the Netherlands don't even have a common religion or culture, and this place is tiny. There's The West (includes the middle), which is generally civilized. The East, which is mostly empty except for some pseudo-Germans. The South which is somehow Catholic unlike the rest of the country - they refuse to pronounce their G's correctly, and they vote for Wilders. The North, divided between separatists (with their own language and culture, stuck a century in the past) and communists (but most of them are students).

Herr Angela Merkel is on a one-day visit to the UK where she/he will address both Houses. As she/he walks in to do her speech will she/he think to her/himself as Chancellor "and all of this could have been mine"?

Das is nicht gut! [no, I can't speak German either]

German tourist witnesses a road accident. He runs into a shop. Here is the conversation: German: A man has been knocked down by a car. What number do I dial to get an ambulance? Shopkeeper: No, no, no. German: What do you mean, nein, nein, nein?

I thought the whole place did, but I can believe the Catholics are more right wing.

    No way! Separatists ? What is there to separate! They will end up with a tiny bit of land that is 90% below sea level! That's nuts. They might speak Fries, but that's no reason.
