Let me explain it in terms you can understand. You are an idiot who doesn't know what they are talking about. Now, we are all paying attention, you are going to explain the differences between the 6 and 6.1 kernel and what it is that makes the 6 kernel so 'outdated' according to you. Oh, don't you even know what the 6 and 6.1 kernel are? How silly of me, and there I was thinking you knew what you were talking about. Oh well, I guess you are just another jerk on the net with an opinion after all. When you learn something kiddy, feel free to come back and join the conversation with the adults here.

After posting above that you should stop personal attacks I received another personal attack so I have been reporting you for abuse.

So Vista doesn't work, so I chuck in a Win7 DVD, and run it. I chose upgrade. It says, go to this link and download SP1 first. I go to that link, and IE tells me I need to upgrade IE. I really fucking hate Windows and MSFT. All they produce is shit.

This is were you went wrong. Windows is fine, especially from a user point of view it is far better than linux, but that´s a useless discussion right know. (les gouts et les couleur ne se dispute pas). But it is a fact that Windows is very lousy in "upgrading", choose a fresh install next time :-D .

I learned that the hard way a while ago. I now divide my disk into 2 partitions; one for the OS and one for data. Then when I need to install a new version of the OS I just overwrite the OS partition with a clean install and all my data is still available.

I´m doing that for almost 15 years already. In fact I´m still flabbergasted to see vendors selling machines with an installed HD without any partitioning (nor any advice concerning that). On top of that, I never use "my documents" and the like.

His original handle was Fat Boy. When that got nuked, GW in the Lounge, he came back with Fat Eric. After abusing members that account was nuked too. There was another account of the Fat/Eric/Boy line that surprisingly was nuked. Erudite Eric started off being normal but slowly slipped back into his old tricks and has now been zapped. Watch this space for Erudite Boy.

Mine is also partitioned, but I do use "My Documents" - I just move it to the D: drive. It's handy, because there are shortcuts to it, apps expect it to work, and it provides a single place for app data (that I created and that apps create without telling me) that can be located and backed up frequently. Works for me!
