A Windows 8 surprise
-
For quite some time C drive (Total space 80 GB) was struggling for free space. :sigh: It came to a point that it came down to few MBs. Tried everything i.e. deleting temp files, un-installing not so useful programs, even running tools to free space. It will go up by few hundred MBs and then back to square one. Now comes the surprise ! One fine morning (Couple of days back), suddenly free space jumped up to 14 GB :wtf: I am still trying to figure out the magic !! Any thoughts!?
Thanks, Milind

You uninstalled Windows 8...It's obvious!
I'm not questioning your powers of observation; I'm merely remarking upon the paradox of asking a masked man who he is. (V)

You got a 100gb drive and installed something else that was 6 gb?

The volume shadow service decided to get rid of some old crap? Have a look at vssadmin from the command prompt. (Not sure whether that's something it'll do on its own...every once in a while, before I back up my VMs, I have vssadmin delete shadow copies, then followed by shrinking my dynamically expanding disks--very often, I'll find that an 80GB VHD drops down in size to 40GB)
