Windows 7 - Help?

Before, when I unplugged the AC charger for my laptop Windows would automatically do theme related things like disable transparency etc. but now when I unplug it, it stays the same theme as before :confused: Anyone know how to fix this? I've tried resetting the theme in the "Personalize" section of the Control Panel.

What does plugging or unplugging of the adapter has to do with the theme change ? Thanks,

Check Control Panel > Power Options > Choose when to turn off display (Edit Plan Settings) > Change advanced power settings. This may be what you are looking for.

It's the default action on Windows 7, which is why I'm trying to turn it back on. Something must have happened to turn it off, and it's had a noticeable effect on battery life :(

What's your power plan set to? Maybe you accidentally switched it to "High performance"?

Either disable the battery hogging eye-candy permanently or don't unplug it. Ever. Seriously, after trying unsuccessfully to make my home machine sleep, I've pretty much given up on power-related woes. Have you looked at powercfg (command line) and its zillion options? There may be some hope there but personally I think reinstalling the OS will be faster.
