In case someone missed it in the Insider, a very good and simple article: Arduino vs. Pi : Which one is best for you[^] I belonged to the people who believed the two solutions were equivalent, this came as an enlightenment. Of course, if I really had the need, I'd have looked in the specs more closely.

As I have already pointed out, your behavior on these forums is on the edge of trolling, and this is getting slowly on my nerves, so at some point, be prepared to some reaction. So, your answer is childish, but I know there are other members of the repost police, so here my general point of view about that : I don't fucking care if it has already been posted. This is no news item, it is only a link to an article I find interesting, especially since I have seen lots of interest here about DIY electronics and in the forums and in the Q&A. You are not happy with that ? Move on. The mere fact that I have to write these lines is getting me mad. tl;dr : Fuck you.

Rage in rage. Sorry In fact, an interesting read - I missed it in the Insider news. I own both and Arduino and two Pis, and from that experience I already found out that the Arduino Board is best when it comes to bare electronics work. In my honest opinion, step back and take a deep breath - Some people know what buttons to push to get us raging. Ignore him, some brains never developed over (or sometimes fall back to) childishness.

I will never again mention that Dalek Dave was the poster of the One Millionth Lounge Post, nor that it was complete drivel.

Interesting, never heard of it under my rock ! Looking at the specs[^], I wonder how a .NET framework can be an operating system though. Do you own one by chance ?

Yes, I've got all three. I had a rant about the Netduino here http://www.codeproject.com/Lounge.aspx?fid=1159&select=4806864&fr=3751#xx0xx[^] I bought the PI when it came out, plugged into the TV and then put in a box where it remains. I'm building a Segway type self-balancing thing for fun and need something to read data from the IMU and drive the wheels. I was excited by the prospect of the Netduino for this but it became apparent it just wasn't up to the job (or pretty much any job really). So Arduino it is, even though its a lot lower spec it can do realtime, and only costing $15 helps, especially as the first one went up in smoke on an accidental 12v/5v mix up.

                  Regards, Rob Philpott.

I use one of the Pis as Print server to make an USB printer Ethernet-accessible. The other Pi is a playground thing I use every once in a while, the Arduino did I use for my Arduino article (Arduino, C#, and Serial Interface[^]).

I am very busy with a cluster elephant of a project at the moment, I did look at the article yesterday and have both Pi's and Arduinos, came pretty to your conclusion, both do similar things but, the Pi is a not really suitable for fast/real time processing as it runs Linux, the Arduino can do fast, but you need to know which is the hot end of a soldering iron!. It's a form of are if you a Hardware guy go for the Arduino for the solution, if you are a Softie (flame suit on! ;P ) go for the Pi. I have built a motor controller using the Arduino which I aim to connect via Serial/GPIO to a Pi to create a Robot (just need the time!).... :(( Glenn

At the moment no control loop, purely digital (On, Off) was thinking about the PWM pin though. To me PWM control is something of a black art, I use it adjust some numbers and it works (I tend to work in the RF field)! Glenn

It depends a lot on the application you wouldn't use the Pi to do simpler projects that don't need the power of the Pi

It says "Spring 2014". I'm guessing just buying a BBB might be better until it arrives!

Mate: settle. Posting "repost" is a time honoured tradition here. Not a productive one, I'll admit, but does it really warrant that kind of, ahem, rage? I get that your reaction is not due to the post but rather the poster. Even so, please respect the forums.

                                        cheers Chris Maunder
