Why most people here dislike Facebook?
-
Now, before start off, here are few things to make note of: 1. You cannot call it bad just because of content. If that was the case, you should dislike CP as well considering amounts of rants about Q & A here. 2. If you have had a bad experience with random friend request, it is not FB's fault. 3. If you are annoyed with game requests, you should consider choosing FB friends carefully rather than blaming FB. 4. If you think content there is just idiotic, remember it is not just for people like you. Kids to old people use it. There will be everything there. Again you need to choose what you want to see. 5. If you do not like their UI, for few things I am with you.

I don't know about anyone else, but for me... As with so many "Web apps" (including this one), it just keeps changing for the sake of change -- you never know what the UI will be from one visit to another.
You'll never get very far if all you do is follow instructions.

There are only 10 types of people in the world, those who understand binary and those who don't.

What is wrong with that? It is evolution... Why did Google search change, Why did CodeProject change, Why did Jaffa cakes cakes change....it wasn't for the better as I preferred them when they were slightly firmer. :) Without change there isn't the chance that you might find something better. Anyway, you can never please everyone, someone will always hate it, even if it is to try and sound cool or to troll.

Now, I have to admit that I'm a frequent user of Facebook so I don't fall into the active dislike camp, but one thing that really gets on my chest-ends is the ever changing security and privacy on FB. Is this private? Yep, but how about tomorrow? How about next week? Oh look, they changed their security policy and my previously private posts are now public.

I use it to stay in touch with friends and family but I post very little as I have no desire to live my life on line. Except, of course, for CP. :-)

Try these ones.[^] They are firmer than the original McVities ones, with better chocolate and a much more orangey "orangey bit". I've stopped buying McVities biscuits - I think the accountants have taken over as they all seem to have lost flavour and quality (some of them barely class as biscuits any more, they are more sprayed together lumps of dry crud)

I don't think people who aren't on Facebook actually hate it, they just don't think it's for them.

That is not the attitude I smell. Now, my sense of smell sucks and I am well aware of that. I have seen posts just ridiculing mere existence of it. Yet, no post actually explaining why. Same case here in this thread.

So just hate changes?

I prefer to pick and choose which changes I get (and when) rather than have them shoved down my throat against my will.

Been there. It is not really intuitive but it is not that difficult as well. Hell, way better than doing anything in SAP for God's sake.

If you're technically capable, it's not that difficult - providing you can find which particular update security setting you're meant to be changing, but how about those who just know how to log into FB? This never ending series of twiddles and flubs make it very confusing for the neophyte.

I don't see any posts here, so far, ridiculing the existence of it. Care to elaborate?

Totally agree to that. That is the reason why these stupid apps, hoax and other shite prevail. But that is common with internet. It is just that FB is insane user base and hence liable for scrutiny.
