Why most people here dislike Facebook?
-
I use it to stay in touch with friends and family but I post very little as I have no desire to live my life on line. Except, of course, for CP. :-)

Been there. It is not really intuitive but it is not that difficult as well. Hell, way better than doing anything in SAP for God's sake.

If you're technically capable, it's not that difficult - providing you can find which particular update security setting you're meant to be changing, but how about those who just know how to log into FB? This never ending series of twiddles and flubs make it very confusing for the neophyte.

Totally agree to that. That is the reason why these stupid apps, hoax and other shite prevail. But that is common with internet. It is just that FB is insane user base and hence liable for scrutiny.

That is not the attitude I smell. Now, my sense of smell sucks and I am well aware of that. I have seen posts just ridiculing mere existence of it. Yet, no post actually explaining why. Same case here in this thread.

I don't see any posts here, so far, ridiculing the existence of it. Care to elaborate?

Of course wit and humor is the way to go but there has to be a substantial reason.

Why? Apparently an interview is passed or failed in the first 12 seconds: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sMmfJWITrR0[^] so why would we need a substantial reason to dislike a website or service? Now, before start off, here are few things to make note of: 1. You cannot call it bad just because of content. If that was the case, you should dislike CP as well considering amounts of rants about Q & A here. 2. If you have had a bad experience with random friend request, it is not FB's fault. 3. If you are annoyed with game requests, you should consider choosing FB friends carefully rather than blaming FB. 4. If you think content there is just idiotic, remember it is not just for people like you. Kids to old people use it. There will be everything there. Again you need to choose what you want to see. 5. If you do not like their UI, for few things I am with you.

In my eyes it's a platform that raises the worst side of internet to a level never seen before - and I'm talking about the opportunity to be someone else, and lie about yourself to everyone, yourself in the first place. That behavior creates a generation that thinks - because of the fake relationship built on FB - that it's acceptable and tolerated to lie. If FB (and friends) goes on people that remove the barrier between real and fake will be a majority in a lot of important places in our word - I DO NOT WANT IT!

Again, your fault. You need to learn difference between internet and real World.

Which is precisely why I don't like it. You're making my point for me. :)
There are only 10 types of people in the world, those who understand binary and those who don't.

Huh? You are getting me wrong. If you cannot understand bloody difference, you sort of ask for , ummm, heart break?

Who do you think does not understand the difference between internet and real world? And if that is not what you are saying, what are you saying?

Banking upon a disliked yet prevalent behavior and making fortune out of it, amazing. Be smart. Period.

People who get hooked to one fake profile. Isn't that what leads to fake relationships?

I am not questioning amount of usage. I am questioning why people crib about it. A reason please. A valid one.

Because people live out their entire lives online. Dumb. I pretty much said that - guess you missed it.
