Shameless plug[^] Poor audio (you can hear the rumbling the fans on my desktop machine). Article is here[^] (have I no shame??? Nope!) But the main point is, what you all think of the concept? Marc

Here's the mic I was using, it's only $150 now. And probably even better models out now, but for $150 you can improve that audio big time... http://www.amazon.com/Zoom-H2N-H2n-Handy-Recorder/dp/B005CQ2ZY6[^]

No need to be shameless! I had a watch of it this morning and think the software is execellent, the video is perfectly fine.

Thanks, and thanks for your comments! I agree, the "announcements" are cool at first and get really monotonous. How to make computers less monotonous, aye, that's a question! Marc

Hmmm...if I did, it's so long ago I don't recall. My son has posted a few regarding Eve though. Marc

OK, cool. Thank you! If I end up doing more of these, I'll definitely make the investment. I'm also using an ancient version of Camtasia, might be worth re-investing in that tool as well, unless you have some recommendations for screencast software? Marc

I haven't used Camtasia in years, but it was pretty nice back then. I never liked it for editing though, just for grabbing the video. Personally, I like After Effects for editing. I know most pros would say go Premiere or Final Cut Pro and they are right, but for my needs After Effects does the job pretty well. It's basically Photoshop for video.

Thanks! I'll take a look. It's amazing how time consuming this process can be. I'm also surprised how hard it is to put together a decent video presentation. I'm very used to talking in front of audiences, but talking to an invisible audience, and realizing all the "umms, ahhs, and so's" that I say that just are not professional in a video production--it's a whole different ball of wax. Totally, video editing and compositing and even special effects can be very meticulous work. The good news is the IT / developer mindset is perfect for it since we naturally have to pay attention to detail. In fact, there's a lot of guys that started off in IT that ended up in the film industry. It's just like starting anything new though, it gets easier with practice, especially if you're already comfy talking in front of people.

Oh, another quick note, Adobe does offer a 30 day trial on After Effects, so you can see if it's your cup of tea before plopping down a few hundred cool ones.

it's a whole different ball of wax.

Ha. I did once, I try to block it from my mind. Bad, bad memories and all.
