MH415 was ordered from Vickers Armstrongs Ltd on 28th May 1942, as a Mk.V against contract No. B981687/39 Fuselage No. CBAF1061.

I will leave discovering the price as an exercise for the reader.

Probably quite reasonable (yes, I found the price.) What made me laugh was "barn find". Really. Wow, I've got to start checking out the barns around here. Marc

A few weeks ago, Herself asked me to find something I'd like for my Christmas present. My first suggestion got me hit. Apparently Tesco doesn't have a "Seven of Nine" aisle. :sigh: I just showed her this. Guess what happened this time?

Probably cheaper just to start a world war and purchase one from After war surplus.

They've got to be joking! Who in his right mind would pay $2.5 million for a plane with no bar cart or scantily clad bartendresses? That's just daft...

                                    Will Rogers never met me.

Hey, that's practically down the stret from me... If I wasn't spending so much money on my car, I'd consider buying it. LOL

The same guy is not only selling his Spitfire, but a lot more of his aircrafts. For example he is selling five (5!!!) Buchons that he has had in store since 1969. The Buchons last made their last public apperance in the movie "Battle for Britain". Sof if it's practically down the stret from you I'd consider seeing if there's a possibility to visit the collection before it's all sold of. I don't know if it's open to the public since it's a private collection, it has not been a secret at least and there's reports and photos in magazines. Probably cheaper just to start a world war and purchase one from After war surplus.

5 of them? There is a thing now to take the Merlin out and replace it with Damiler-Benz engine (601?) the make a Bf109, I saw one them flying at airshow, fantastic! :) also I think Buchon is Spanish for Pigeon, why didn't they use a more aggressive name rather than a rat with wings?
