HI, Don't know where else to turn. How do I get totally rid of the Win8 Metro Interface. (Not how to hide it with say 'Classic Start Menu"), no, get Rid of it. I prefer a command Line interface to that horrid horse shit. What exactly was wrong with the Win XP interface! OK the Underlying Kernel Data might not have been up to the task of today. Update the Kernel. Add obscure Settings, There is by and large, absolutely no nescessity to change the Interface when the underlying mechanics are changed. If I want a Mobile Phone or Ipad, I will buy one. I bought a New Computer, and am Greatly dissatisfied with windows 8. Seriously considering Ditching it for Either Win7 or XP. XP Sofar has never failed Vista/Win6 Could'nt paint my screens, Win7, sort of Workable, Win8, I'd rather have Dos!

Sounds like all you want is a faster horse and cart rather then a car. Windows 7 is great but you soon get used to 8 and will appreciate some of the features. Admittedly metro is waste of code.

If it has Windows 8.1, you can set it to automatically boot into the desktop, rather than the metro screen. Google is your friend.

The difficult we do right away... ...the impossible takes slightly longer.

Pin your most used applications to the task bar on the desktop, switch to the desktop, and then use the computer almost just like you did with Windows 7. You can pretty much completely avoid the metro interface if you want.

Probably this will improve when you will get used to it. I enjoy a lot working on it, it's nicer, it works like charm and it has it's advantages and disadvantages... Check this video out: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JxclfFbQ2Is[^] It is a nice tutorial on Windows 8. Switching from 8 to 8.1 is ultra-easy.

You can't get rid of the Metro interface. If you want to just use a command line, switch to Linux.

Install Linux then. Without an X Server. You should be very happy.

Spend an hour or so changing the default file associations from Metro to good old fashioned Windows ones, spend another 20 minutes fiddling around with the settings to push Metro as out of the way as possible and you end up with a rock solid (albeit slightly fugly) OS I could never go back to XP, it's just awful!

Even XP has angry birds if you install Chrome or Firefox. Without that, you need Vista for IE9. http://winsupersite.com/windows-server/tip-run-web-based-and-free-angry-birds-ie-9[^]

That's great, but only points out the compatibility of new code, and as long as the guy uses programs that have existed for over a decade he wont care will he. Try to make you points relevant please.
