Windows 7 and 8 are sold at stores. Nedella and Microsoft employees have yet to declare what the next version is.

Nedella "The next major release of windows" No one at Microsoft has said Windows 9, nor is there a Microsoft website that declares Windows 9. So its not very hard to prove something doesn't exist. Even the Windows threshold pictures all say windows 8.

Right... it was Seven of Nine.... But, more to the point. Do you have inside information from Microsoft telling you that a product named "Windows 9" doesn't exist? Even if it is in an early stage, a unfinished product CAN exist.
Windows 9 could exist But it will only exist when the words come out of a Microsoft employees mouth. Windows Threshold does exist.

Windows threshold is built on Windows 8 and is likely to be Windows 8.2 to bring back the old start menu and to make windows more like XP, I hope this makes Windows more enjoyable for you.

Heh, I never noticed that before. That's pretty weird, it was definitely marketed as a full version number not 'Vista.1' (Win 6 is Vista), and I'm pretty sure there were fairly major back end changes that justify 7 getting a proper version number bump.

Care factor 0 If it's a major release coming it will be called 9 until they release a final name for it. If it's really going to be 8.2 then the people talking about a major release would be wrong, but that's not about the name. Microsoft have never released a .2 Windows, though, unless you count service packs, so I wouldn't really expect an 8.2.
