denied use of sendkeys

Poking characters into the keyboard buffer is a good way to automate an external application. It has worked in DOS and all windows OSes including XP. But now I have Win 7 and every time I tried to use it I get Denied! Does anybody know of a workaround since sendkeys doesn't work anymore?

Sendkeys work fine for me, elevate the application privileges and read the forum rules prior to posting.
Technical discussions are welcome, but if you need specific help please use the programming forums.
It was broke, so I fixed it.
