How about a test to prove you can think for yourself and locate Google before you can post a question?
You looking for sympathy? You'll find it in the dictionary, between sympathomimetic and sympatric (Page 1788, if it helps)

So with the sad demise of Workspaces and TV the question must be, "What next for CP?". What would you like to see added or investigated? A public API has been mentioned quite a few times over the last few years, so apart from that. For me: API - but I won't mention that A slicker article editor with basic image editing features. Q&A remodel ???
Increased mobile development presence = a move away from MS centric thinking (that will take time, certainly) I don't think workspaces or TV were a bad idea but I think they would be better marketed under a completely different banner. If I had been starting a new project at home, I would have used workspaces, but that didn't eventuate (I guess I should be glad I didn't, now!) Same with TV - I was thinking about enhancing my Android articles with some video, and where better to host it? On the API front- why? What functionality to you want to provide the CP itself doesn't (or is it that you could do it better?) The thing with an API is, how are CP going to make money out of it? I'd love to write an app that posts 'codez pleaz' to Q&A - but I'm not sure Chris et al would like that! An offline article editor would be good - but I don't find the existing online one too bad. Image editing online? Why? Everyone has access to better tools to edit images than would be provided online, surely? I'd like to see a regular CP Crossword (Hey! Chris! You reading this? Remember about three years ago you said you'd get back to me :)) with prizes, and a guarantee that DD wont write the clues. I love the idea of the article competitions - I'd like to see that continue. Something in Q&A - I don't know what, but I just pretty much keep away these days - between the crappy questions and the snarky answers it's an unpleasant place to be! Mobile - get the site working on mobile so I can respond to posts on the train.

Always ask for the impossible. You won't get it, but it gives you a bargaining position... ;)

How about some form of export of your professional profile you can use to put on your resume? It could contain some form of extraction of your reputation on professional forums (so not the Lounge, Soapbox, ...). A list of your articles and their ratings with a small abstract, etc ...

(MQOTD rules and previous solutions)The problem I see with that is that even abstracted, it would have to lead back to your actual profile (for verification if nothing else) - which means that a pottenial employer not only gets a handy link to all your messages, but gets to see that you (and indeed I) am a Master Debator... :-O

Actually I don't mind that, because A. They have to understand the reputation system, which takes quite some reading and B. it still remains a programming forum ... I could spend all my time on facebook or worse Twitter.

Agree with Dave, already there's an offline editor we have. But I still prefer VS or some other editor to write things in offline.

That kind of redesign can lead to close the QA too...

In a lot of ways, that would be an improvement: focus the site back on being about Quality rather than Quantity. I still feel (as did Luc Pattyn) that QA was a mistake - an attempt to "out-SO" SO which detracted from the programming forums and the article quality and has become largely a "do my homework" hangout. I'm pretty sure there are a couple of members holding down full time jobs purely by posting QA questions!

Why Google test. Here is a Google test. Once they want to post a question in QA just put popup a message dialogue saying this: "Do you know what Google does?" And in a red button marked with a X put the yes button. And in a green tick button put the No. Only when they tick yes can they proceed other wise just link them to Google.

Even I have a 7 year old account I didn't used it really for over 6 years so I can't remember how it was before QA, but will happy to give a chance CP without QA...
OriginalGriff wrote:

Yes, I can see that. To be true I was tempted in the last few weeks to open an other account and send some basic (and not so basic) MVC (I'm in a process of design using MVC) questions just for fun, but hold myself... :-D
