If you somehow got infinite money...

Probably Aleph one[^], seeing as money is rational number... ;P

Would you stop working? Would you find a new career? Would you start your own business? I'm not sure. Work isn't all fun and games, but neither is sitting at home and partying all day... At least work makes you feel kind of useful. I'd probably work less though. And travel more. I was wondering what the average CP'er would do. I know there's some people here who really love to code :D
It's an OO world.
public class SanderRossel : Lazy<Person>
{
public void DoWork()
{
throw new NotSupportedException();
}
}I have my own business I would quit, and run far far away. And leave the door unlocked to let the dogs pilfer my office and lab to their hearts content.

}I'd quit my programming job, but I wouldn't quit programming. I've been accumulating more ideas for pet projects than I'll ever have free time to do them, even if I was to start working full-time on them tomorrow morning. The problem with the software I have in mind is that none of it will pay the bills.

}I would start studying. There are so many geek stuffs I want to learn but can't right now. Well some part of my motivation to build software comes form the idea of money and a successful career. With the first one gone, I would stay mostly at home, bring down my working hours to single digit numbers. I would also get a desktop pc with everything in it. Also I would travel, anywhere I can go with my bike.

I would hire all the space agencies and space companies in the world to build a full size USS Enterprise out in orbit and go live there. Never mind the lack of gravity generators, impulse power and warp cores, I'd also hire a team of researches to figure out all that stuff. Then again, maybe I would just hire the biggest army in the world and take total control of the planet and nuke the f***rs that disagree with my policies. Mwahaha. So, take your pick - you want me off this ruddy rock, or you want me to become a megalomaniac. I can live with either answer. :) Marc

Yes, but in one of cases the your life might be considerably shorter, would you live with that too?

Yes, money would be meaningless.

No, they'd stop printing currency. But I suppose you could scrape yourself with a debit card.

What for? I don't think it would be needed anymore as everyone would already have infinite money.. :~

}I've got lots of plans for when I'm incredibly wealthy, I reckon I need about £100 million if any wants to help me out. For that amount I'd do something for all my family, all my friends, a few choice colleagues I like a lot who serious life long health issues, the village I live in, the city I grew up in, things that would help people out, make their lives more fun, try to build a better community. For myself I'd buy a number of extravagant houses in various parts of the UK, pay for my daughter to go to a good school near here, and travel a lot, everywhere, experience as much as possible, see as much as possible. I undoubtedly would not write another line of code, ever. I would probably pay people to write some for ideas I have though. Infinite money is no different to more money than you could spend, and I reckon that'd do me. No need to spend money just to be an arsehole.

Why have the responsibility? Yeah, that's about right for me. I would lke to sail round the med for a year or two for example, get a 10 meter yacht, and just zone out for a bit.

What responsibility? you can just throw money at it until it reaches google's level.
But at some stage you will take it seriously, and it will keep you awake at night with worry. :)
