Caliphate!

I am not against any religion! That been said, why are terrorist trying to create "Islamic Caliphate" all around the world, killing innocent souls in the process? Boko Haram of Nigeria just declared creating one yesterday. ISIS in the middle east too!

Wouldn't be the first time someone tried to take over the world.
The difficult we do right away... ...the impossible takes slightly longer.

Same reasons we exported Catholicism to the West. ..farmers will not kill for anything outside of self-defense, or to protect their God. Hence, they need some external motivation. Why? Dunno, maybe it's a reaction to something that happened? Like someone selling arms to all sides?

You know I was wondering there is so much religion involved in war? I guess it's easy to make people angry with religion perhaps? And also it's a more powerful motivator than mere profit?

Perhaps but if they use profit as a motivator they have to share the profit (so less for the persons in charge). I think profit is a bigger motivator than religion but the people on top use religion so they can keep the profit for themselves and don't have to share it. In the end it all comes down to either power or money, and very very few "religious leaders" who incite violence actually do it for the religion part.

The rest of the world is so brutal... sure would be easier if the world would surrender instead of causing all those innocent deaths... ;P
-- The trouble with people,
is that they want to hear only what they want to hear. And then the "bad guys" win. And that doesn't stop the brutality: Look at the Pol Pot, Idi Amin, Pinochet, Franco, Hussein, Mengistu Haile Mariam, (carefully Not Mentioning The War) Their brutality didn't stop when they had absolute power - if anything it got worse. Sometimes, you have to stand up and be counted.

It's not religion that causes war, it's evil people. They may use religion as an excuse in order to try to justify their behaviour, but no religion actively encourages such actions.

My question is more "what is religion?". My definition: religion appears to be a set of beliefs held by a large number of people usually based on some sort of faith in something that is not measurable, using the 'scientific method', and that generally contains ideas that are held as taboo to question within and about the particular religion. Given my definition, it seems fairly easy to then manipulate a large number of people to do something they would not do outside of this group/collective belief system.

As much as everyone will agree on IS(IS) being the bad guys , Historically speaking "Bad Guys" are defined by the winning :-\ side and then embedded into
History
I don't like them because they would like to kill me, but that's just my personal taste.-- The trouble with people,
is that they want to hear only what they want to hear. -

Can you image what life would be like in a state rules by these guys? Regrettably, I can...

Stranger yet, some assholes in countries not in the neighbourhood of where IS is operating are supporting them. They have nothing to gain, something to lose, and they still go out of their way to announce to the world that they support The Enemy. Please tell me that instantly gets you a VIP spot on a watchlist. It's the kind of crap that makes people vote for Wilders[^].

Harold if you think of it, they have a lot to gain. A war of culture has began and everyone tries to ignore that fact and handle it with the all-wrong "time will heal" algorithm. There is a rising power opposing much of what we take for granted. The war has started and one side is fast asleep they way I see it.

For future reference, you should consider following rule four[^] next time. These subjects tend to go out of hand sometimes.
